History of creation

The author of this variety is M.M. Ulyanishchev. The breeder has spent most of his life developing a hybrid with unique visual and flavor characteristics.

When the scientist died, his assistants - Kandil-Kitayka and Welsey - worked on the unfinished project. To perpetuate the memory of the breeder, the new hybrid was named after him.

Advantages and disadvantages

Thanks to the work of breeders, it turned out to bring out a hybrid with unique characteristics.

The main benefits of the apple tree include:

  • high productivity, early maturity;
  • resistance to adverse weather conditions (frost, dry summer);
  • tasty and juicy fruits.

There are also a few disadvantages:

  • poor resistance to the effects of diseases and insect pests;
  • low level of fruit transportability.

When harvesting, apples must be carefully folded into boxes. Juicy flesh and thin skin are sensitive to impact. If stored improperly, the fruits wither.

general characteristics

The apple tree belongs to the winter varieties. The tree is not tall, semi-dwarf type. It has a fast growth rate. Adult specimens reach 4 m.

The crown is rich green, roundish in shape. The fruits are large (220-300 g), sparkling raspberry hue.

Taste

Apples are famous for their pronounced and memorable sweet and sour taste. The pulp is loose, white. The aroma is subtle. Even when stored for a long time, the taste does not deteriorate.

The fruits can be eaten fresh, used for making juices, jams. They make a delicious filling for pies and sweet pastries.

Yield

The first fruits ripen 4-5 years after planting. It happened that the seedlings began to bear fruit earlier. In this case, it is recommended to remove 80% -100% of the inflorescences, preventing the formation of fruits on young and fragile branches.

An adult tree gives up to 100 kg of harvest, bears fruit annually. Apples ripen in September and are stored until December.

Pollinators

Hybrid Memory Ulyanishchev self-fertile. To improve the quality and increase the number of ovaries, a sapling of another variety should be planted 5 m from the apple tree.

Winter hardiness

When breeding an apple tree, breeders tried to achieve high indicators of the species' resistance to weather conditions. And they did it. The tree is not afraid of either severe frosts or heat.

Disease resistance

The weak side of the hybrid is susceptibility to fungus, as well as frequent scab infestation.

Leaves and fruits are most susceptible to ailments. Frequent prevention will help keep the plant in good condition.

In order for the tree to grow well and to please with its yield, it is important to follow the rules of cultivation and care.

Timing

Ulyanishchev's memory can be planted in the spring (closer to May) or in the fall (late September-early October). The second option is more preferable, because this variety is winter.

Technology

Prepare a hole a month before the planned planting (depth and diameter - 1 m). Cover the hole with peat chips, sand and compost - this way the young tree will grow better.

After planting, water the apple tree with 3-5 liters of water and tie it to a peg.

Care

A young seedling requires careful maintenance. In early spring, weak branches are cut to form a crown.

To protect and prevent insect pest infestation, the hybrid is sprayed in two stages with insecticide solutions:

  1. The first treatment is carried out when the buds begin to swell on the branches, but the leaves have not yet appeared.
  2. The second stage of irrigation is performed before the blooming of the buds.

If the summer is rainy, damp, the risk of infection of the hybrid with fungal spores increases. To prevent possible damage to seedlings by diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria, the tree is irrigated with a weak solution of copper sulfate or Bordeaux liquid 2-3 times per season.

Ripening and fruiting period

The selection creation is distinguished by the speed of its maturation. Fruiting begins quickly enough.

Flowers appear already 2-3 years after planting, but at this time they should be cut. So, in 4-5 years, fruiting will be large and high quality.

Ulyanishchev's memory has several features:

  • the shape of the fruit is oblong. The pulp is tender, tasty;
  • the color of apples is bright crimson;
  • weight reaches 300 g - the fruits are considered large.

Harvesting and storage

According to the description, the crop can lie for a long time without loss of flavor. The shelf life is quite long, the consumer period lasts until February.

To keep the apples in good condition, transport them carefully, and do not drop them when buying - the pulp is quite sensitive and tender.

Where is the variety grown

The culture is new and rare, it is not grown in many regions. Usually, the memory of Ulyanishchev is taken out in the Moscow region - there are the most suitable soil and climate conditions.

If you follow the simple rules of care (watering, feeding, processing), it can be cultivated in the northern regions of the Russian Federation, in the Caucasus, in Ukraine (throughout the territory).

Gardeners reviews

Gardeners note the high yield of this fruit crop. They are also attracted by the taste of apples and the aesthetic appearance of the tree. The memory of Ulyanishchev will become a decoration of the garden thanks to the appearance of the crown. The tree tolerates cold well.
