To create suitable conditions for chickens and chickens, it is necessary to carefully prepare the house for the winter period, provide them with enough light and when the heater needs to be turned on or not 1. Many farmers use improvised means of warming the house, for example, they sheathe the chicken coop with plywood, chipboard on top, spread sawdust on the floor. But there are also artificial sources for heating, and one of them is a red lamp for a chicken coop. Laying hens in the winter rush only if you make them the right temperature in the room and the right conditions.

Chicken coop infrared lamp

Each farmer who decides to breed birds on his site needs to decide in advance and prepare with the help of what it is better to equip the heat in the chicken coop so that feathered friends will delight us in winter. Today, there are a lot of different options. heating chicken coopsbut the best is the chicken coop infrared lamp. With the correct installation of the IR lamp in the hen house, the birds will fly, and the chickens will not freeze and will be active. In more detail, you can see how ceramic, thermal, red and infrared types look in a photo or video.

Infrared lamp

The chicken infrared machine is easy to use, install and operate. It has a beneficial effect on the health of chickens, on their health. Undoubtedly, its main plus is that it heats and the temperature can be regularly maintained with the help of it, it also does not dry the air, it just heats the objects around it, and the objects, in turn, give off heat to the air. Thus, thanks to infrared equipment, we get minimal heat loss.

You can install such lamps for a chicken coop for heating with your own hands. Of course, the price of an infrared lamp in a chicken coop is not cheap, but if used correctly, it will last for a long time. Also, IR emitters are not sensitive to high humidity and operate silently. Can be used not only for heating, but also for lighting. One lamp, for example, with a power of 250 W will illuminate and heat a room of 12 square meters.

Minuses

The main disadvantage of the equipment in question is power consumption, that is, electricity consumption and constant red tones. If we calculate the amount of electricity used for one piece with a power of 250 W, we will use 0.25 kW per hour. Which is not a little, especially when you consider the number of hours of heating and the fact that one lamp for a spacious chicken coop is very little. But the choice is very large, the equipment differs in both size and power. The next disadvantage is its sensitivity, IR equipment does not like vibrations, wobbles, and is categorically incompatible with water. A drop of water falling on the equipment leads to a crack on the glass, that is, to inoperability.

Its cost is not small, and it is expensive to constantly replace them. Therefore, it is necessary to protect it from water ingress. And arrange so that the lamp hangs in a motionless form, since the bird can damage it.It is worth noting the fact that if you use an IR lamp to heat broiler chickens, it alone is not enough, in which case you need to use combined lamps, which, in addition to infrared radiation, also produce ultraviolet ones. The IR lamp is not suitable for heating a chicken coop in which both adults and chickens are located, since large chickens will take all the heat onto themselves.

Germicidal lamp

The germicidal lamp has a predetermined UV transmission spectrum. It is used in various devices, for example, irradiators, bactericidal recirculators, devices for water disinfection, etc. Its main advantage is non-toxicity, thanks to the glass material from which the flask is made. Such glass filters out ozone as much as possible, due to this, after using the equipment, compulsory ventilation of the room is not required, in contrast to the use of its predecessor, a quartz lamp.

In chicken coops, bactericidal equipment is used in the form of recirculators; today, their choice is by itself large. But you need to skillfully choose them, taking into account the age of the bird, the size of the room and the material in order to breed full-fledged offspring. The equipment fully justifies itself and is excellent disinfects the room, which will become noticeable almost immediately with the naked eye, for the presence of insects in the room. By regularly disinfecting the chicken coop, your chickens will have excellent immunity and naturally less pain, which is very important in winter.

Minuses

  • The main disadvantage is that a fairly large number of equipment is not specialized for industrial premises, but if you search well, you can find specialized recirculators for sheds and chicken coops.
  • Their electricity consumption starts at 15 watts, for a start this is enough to take out the birds, then the power depends on the size of the room that is disinfected. You also need to take into account a fairly large cost, the equipment should have the greatest effect, spend the minimum amount of electricity, be affordable, have minimal costs.

Ultraviolet lamp

The UV lamp is easy to operate and install, it consumes little electricity since it does not need to be used every day. The main advantage is its direct action - disinfection and radiation that has a beneficial effect on farm animals and birds. When exposed to UV on broilers and meat breeds, along with an increase in gains of 4 - 1%, the quality of meat improves. Of course, this will not replace warm sun rays on a summer day, but its benefits and effectiveness are higher than natural ultraviolet rays. Lack of natural ultraviolet radiation, causes metabolic disorders, a decrease in the protective functions of the body and, as a result, various diseases.

Also, UV equipment is different, and each is adapted to a specific area for a specific use. For chicken coops, there are UV lamps made taking into account the size of the area, the age of the bird and even the cross. Taken together, an infrared lamp for your chickens and UV will give good results for a full life of feathered pets. Each device for individual purposes has a different range. The most suitable specialized device for poultry is the ozonizer.

Minuses

Specialized lamps for chicken coops are certainly not cheap, but they will be of maximum benefit. But it is also worth noting that the UV lamp acts only with the help of radiation, in hard-to-reach, little visible places, bins, there will not be much benefit from it. To destroy such parasites like a tick, a flea, devices will be ineffective, since the radiation will not get there.

But the main disadvantage is that it is not recommended to abuse radiation.Do not forget that the harm from UV lies in the nonspecific rupture of some molecular bonds in DNA, that is, DNA deteriorates and you can get more harm than good. Therefore, many poultry houses do not recommend using UV radiation when chickens or people are in the house.

Useful Tips

If you are raising day old chicks, then the temperature must be made suitable and so that there is a small red lamp in the chicken coop or container where the babies will be. The box in which the chickens will be raised for the first time should be covered with a film so that the temperature in the box is kept at the desired level. You can cover it with a cloth instead of a film to keep warm. All this is very easy to do with your own hands and a novice poultry breeder will cope with this lesson. If covering with foil, make sure that the chickens have something to breathe, leave holes for air. Keeping poultry in a chicken coop, maintaining their egg production, room temperature is impossible without an infrared lamp.

It is the most efficient and its efficiency is the highest, because heat reaches the object with practically no loss. Despite its electricity consumption, it has no equal today. As for bactericidal and ultraviolet lamps, they are significantly similar in properties, but each has its own application, its pros and cons. Therefore, you should think carefully about what is more convenient and profitable to purchase, so that it is financially affordable, convenient to use, taking into account all your criteria and capabilities. After all, keeping poultry in a chicken coop should pay off, even in winter, otherwise it will be more profitable to buy eggs or poultry meat.

It can be concluded that without good equipment it will be almost impossible to keep a healthy bird with good immunity. The inhabitants of the hen house need warmth and cleanliness, and if they are not provided with favorable conditions for living, such a bird will often get sick, lay badly, and the hatching egg will be of little survivability. After all, it is always nice to look at a healthy bird, a clean and tidy barn, but it costs a lot of effort and for this you need to work hard.
