According to the description, if the crops are properly cared for, the Tushon carrots bear fruit by the end of July, but the main harvest occurs in early autumn (early September) .To harvest it in early June, sowing is carried out in mid-autumn (October-November).

Growing

For growing Tushon carrots, it is better to choose sandy loam and loamy soils in the open air, in places with good illumination. It is a cold-tolerant crop and is therefore suitable for late planting. The culture is planted directly in the soil, but it is better to start preparation in late April or early May.

Preparation and disembarkation

Before planting, the seeds are pickled and soaked. After that, the planting material is deepened into the ground by 1.5-2 cm. It is better to arrange the furrows in rows, not too close to each other, at a distance of about 30 cm.

The first shoots appear in 2-3 weeks. When the seedlings are more than 5 cm tall, you can start weeding the rows. There should be a distance of 5-6 cm between the shoots.

Fertilizers and care

To get a rich harvest, it is imperative to properly care for the sowing. For the proper growth of Tushon carrots, a number of procedures are performed:

  • Planted plants are watered regularly.
  • They loosen the soil and thin out the greens.
  • Weeds are pulled out.
  • Carrots are treated for pests.
  • The necessary fertilizers are introduced.

To fertilize the Tushon variety, a solution of potassium nitrate, double superphosphate and urea (20x15x15 g, respectively) is used, as well as a compound of potassium chloride and complex mineral fertilizer (20 g each) per bucket of water.

Diseases and pests

It is imperative to comprehensively care for the vegetable.

Like any other variety, Touchon is susceptible to insect attack. Pest control must be carried out in a comprehensive manner. Common parasites include:

  • carrot fly;
  • carrot flap;
  • carrot moth;
  • rootworm nematode.

Diseases affecting the variety:

  • dry rot (otherwise - phomosis);
  • white rot.

If you take complex care of crops, the risk of infection or damage by pests will decrease.

Treatment of diseases

The best treatment is prevention. For this purpose, potash fertilizers are applied to the beds before sowing (at the rate of 40 g of potassium chloride per 1 m²). 2 weeks before planting, the ground is fed with a solution (10 g of substance per 10 l of water).

Getting rid of pests

As in the case of diseases, it is better to start prevention right away: treat the soil and seeds before planting. If infection is imminent, treatment is started immediately.

The folk method helps to get rid of carrot flies: mix ash, slaked lime and tobacco dust in a proportion of 5-10 g per 1 m². The prepared mixture is sprinkled on the soil every 8-10 days. Repeat several times.

It is advised to fight the beetle with the help of tobacco: the infusion of tobacco products (1 kg per 10 l of heated water) is filtered and diluted (2 l of infusion for 10 l of water), mixed with 25 g of laundry soap and sprayed with the decoction of the plant.

Tomato tops help save the crop from carrot moths. 3.5 kg of finely chopped tops are poured into 10 liters of boiling water, infused for a day, and then sprayed.

There are no folk remedies for removing gall nematids. These midges eat into the roots, therefore, to combat them, you need to use anthelmintic drugs: the "Decaris" tablet is diluted in 1 liter of water, the plant is watered several times a day.
