Planting varieties

In open ground

The Black Prince eggplant variety is grown outdoors only in the central and southern regions of the country, where climatic conditions allow it. For cultivation, you should choose only well-lit areas with fertile soil. The acid-base balance of the earth should be no more than 6%.

Before planting, you should thoroughly loosen the soil and apply organic fertilizers to it. For every 1 m2, there should be 2-3 kg of compost or mullein. Planting eggplant seeds Black Prince is allowed only in early or mid-May. By this time, the soil will have time to warm up to a temperature of 15 ° C. Planting material does not require any preparation or processing. Seeds should be planted 50 cm apart. The distance between the rows should be 30 cm.

When grown properly, there will be a great harvest.

Planting seedlings in a greenhouse

For planting in a greenhouse, seedlings are grown. It is best to plant in early March.For this, the seeds are placed in a container (at a distance of 5 cm from each other) or in individual cups. The sowing depth is 1-1.5 cm. After that, the containers for planting must be covered with plastic wrap and placed in a warm and well-lit place. As soon as the first shoots appear, the film can be removed, but the plants must be removed from direct sunlight.

20 days after the appearance of the first shoots, planting can be carried out in a greenhouse. To do this, the soil in it is fertilized with humus (3 kg per 1 m2) and carefully dug up. It is necessary to plant seedlings of eggplant varieties Black Prince in the greenhouse in early or mid-April. Sowing depth approx. 4 cm.

Plant care

The description of the Black Prince eggplant variety indicates that it is unpretentious in care. It all comes down to standard procedures:

  • watering;
  • loosening the soil;
  • garter plant;
  • top dressing.

Watering

Watering should be done at intervals of 3-4 days. Do not water the seedlings abundantly, as this can lead to root rot. The best option is 1-1.5 liters for each bush.

Only warm water should be used for irrigation, since it improves the adhesion of the roots to the soil.

Top dressing

Top dressing is carried out several times during the entire growing season.

  1. With the use of organic fertilizers, it is carried out 20 days after planting in a permanent place. You can dilute 2 kg of humus or 1 kg of mullein in 10 liters of water. 1 liter of the drug is poured under each bush.
  2. 2 weeks after the first. At this point, phosphate fertilizers should be used (20 mg superphosphate per 10 liters of water). 1.5 liters of solution are poured into each bush.

Loosening the soil and garter

It is necessary to loosen the soil after each watering. This will provide protection against crusting and pests. Weeding the beds improves the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the plant's root system.

Remove weeds every week to avoid provoking pests. Since the Black Prince eggplants are large, the bushes should be tied to a support to reduce the risk of deformation of the stem from the wind.

Diseases and parasites

The variety is resistant to powdery mildew, late blight, phytoplasmosis and tobacco mosaic virus. The problem can only occur in root rot. If watering is carried out correctly and the soil is regularly loosened, then such a disease can be avoided.

Of the parasites that can destroy the Black Prince eggplant, aphids, beetles and a flea should be distinguished. You can get rid of aphids with Bordeaux liquid (2 mg per 10 liters of water). The beds are sprayed with this solution every 10 days. You can fight beetles by spraying with a solution of wood ash (200 g per 10 liters of water). Spraying with colloidal salt (40 mg per 10 liters of water) is considered an effective remedy for flea beetles.

Conclusion

If you follow all the planting and grooming guidelines, it will be easy to grow high quality produce that can be used for canning or main meals. The Black Prince is also grown for the purpose of further sale. This culture is not demanding to care for, which means that even beginners in the field of agriculture can cultivate it.
