general characteristics

Ataman, a hybrid table grape variety, was developed for cultivation in the southern regions of Russia and Ukraine. One of his main virtues - fertility - he inherited from an ancestor called the Talisman. The bright color and large size of the fruits came to Ataman from Rizamat.

The variety is unpretentious, frost-resistant (up to -23 ° C) with an average resistance to diseases. Wasps are not affected. Ripening period is medium late - about 4 months.

According to the description, the average weight of a bunch is 700 g, for some champions - up to 1,300 kg. The bushes of the plant with 50 eyes are vigorous, the leaf is green, star-shaped, 5-lobed, the foliage is fluffy. The vine is beige. Cuttings are capable of strong rooting and quick fusion with the stock when grafted. During formation, the crop ripens for at least 4 months - in regions with a warm climate, this happens in the second half of September.

Features of the fruit

Ataman Pavlyuk grapes have the following parameters:

  • weight - 15-22 g;
  • diameter - on average, 38 mm;
  • shape - elongated oval;
  • seeds - 3 in one berry;
  • color - reddish pink, sometimes purple;
  • taste - sweet and sour;
  • the pulp is juicy;
  • the peel is hard, with a slight waxy bloom;
  • the percentage of sugar - 19;
  • acid content - 7 g / dm3.

Berries do not peel or crack under changeable weather conditions. For this reason, the variety is considered transportable.

Correct fit

The degree of complexity of further grape care, the quality and quantity of the future harvest depends on the literacy of planting work. The Ataman grape, like other varieties, loves sunlight, so the place for planting is chosen on the south side, well blown by the winds. The southwest slope is ideal. A humid environment can cause the multiplication of fungal infections in the soil where Ataman grows, so the movement of air in the atmosphere should be free.

The landing time is spring (from April to June) or autumn (from October to the onset of cold weather). In the second case, it is necessary to provide covering protection for the seedling. Sprinkle the planting hole with sawdust or pine needles. Mix the top layer of soil with ash, humus and superphosphate and form a mound. Such mulching will help preserve the heat balance of the plant.

Seedlings for planting are selected carefully, checked for damage and disease. The most suitable seedling age is 1 year, when their size reaches 10 cm, thickness - 12 mm. Before planting, they are soaked in clay. Extra eyes are removed from the shoots.

The formation of rows occurs from north to south. The distance between the rows is 2.5 m. Dense plantings lead to problems with airing the plants and their premature aging.

Care advice

The plant needs good care

The plant needs good care

  1. Watering.It needs a lot of moisture, especially in summer. One bush requires up to 9 buckets of water: the root system is completely moistened. Watering alternates with loosening.
  2. Shelter. For the winter, it is covered from the cold with a plastic bag or dry leaves. Make holes in the device so that the seedlings can breathe.
  3. Pruning. Performed right in front of the shelter for the winter.
  4. Fertilizer. Top dressing with nitrogen, phosphorus / manure, mullein, compost is carried out in the spring.
  5. Protection. Sulfur pretreatment will protect the grapes from infection with the mildew fungus, and copper disinfection will also be useful.

Diseases and pests

Wet weather is good for bacteria. Prophylaxis is usually carried out in April. Spraying with iron sulfate gives the plant additional iron resources, which affects the future harvest and budding.

As can be seen from the description of the Ataman grape, it is endowed with medium resistance to fungal conquest. Most often, the variety is affected by powdery mildew, a sign of which is a white bloom on the leaves. The affected plant should be immediately treated with a solution of sulfur or hay dust; fungicides are also good. Treatment with Bordeaux liquid or vitriol helps with mildew.

Among the pests are aphids, scale insects, caterpillars, leafworms. They gnaw on leaves and leave a sticky coating on them. In the fight against insects, such folk remedies as ash, celandine, tobacco will help. Effectively complex treatment with chemicals before bud break.

Conclusion

The Ataman Pavlyuk grape is a popular variety grown in the south. Proper planting and careful care will help the gardener get a high-quality berry harvest. This variety will be ideal not only for professionals, but also for beginner gardeners.
