Top dressing tomato in July
Tomatoes are a crop that has a long growing season, an average of 3 months. And throughout the summer it needs regular feeding. Fertilizers applied in June stimulate the growth and formation of the ovary, feeding a tomato in July will contribute to the growth of fruits, in August it will accelerate ripening and prolong fruiting.
June
In the first month of summer, the main feeding of tomatoes is carried out in the greenhouse and in the open field. They will provide the necessary trace elements for growth, flowering and intensive formation of the ovary. Its composition depends on the purpose for which fertilization will be carried out. Consider how to feed tomatoes in June.
For the growth of bushes
In mid-May, the seedlings are planted in a permanent place and after 14-21 days, at the beginning of June, the first main feeding is carried out. It will provide the tomatoes with nitrogen for the full growth of the bushes. Nitrogen fertilizers are mixed with phosphorus and potash fertilizers. They also combine mineral with organic. Use the following options:
- Dissolve 1 tbsp in 15 liters of water. l. nitroammophoska and 500 g of ripe manure. A shallow ditch is made in the aisles and spilled with the prepared solution. For 1 sq. m of the garden, 2 liters of fertilizer is enough.
- Chicken droppings 500 g, potassium sulfate 5 g, superphosphate 25 g. All ingredients are dissolved in 15 liters of water. Watered under the bush, avoiding contact with the stem and leaves. The rate for one plant is 200-300 ml.
- Superphosphate 25 g, wood ash 60 g, boric acid 0.3 g, manure 0.5 kg. Dissolve all components in a bucket of water. Water the aisles on moist soil. Consumption 2-3 l / sq. m.
- Overripe mullein 0.5 kg, 1 glass of ash, 20 g of yeast, 200 ml of milk whey and 2-3 kg of chopped nettle are poured into 10 liters of water. Leave to stand for 7-10 days, sometimes stir. Stir before use. In a bucket of water, dilute 1 liter of the resulting top dressing. One bush uses 1-2 liters of fertilizer.
- 3 kg of chopped herbs (comfrey, dandelion, nettle) are poured in a bucket of warm water. Insist 2-3 days. Before use, dilute with clean water in a ratio of 1: 5. 2 liters of top dressing are poured under each bush.
Fertilizers are applied in the morning or evening. After the procedure, the tomatoes are watered, and the ground near the bush is loosened.
For flowering
Tomatoes begin to bloom in mid-June, during this period they need potassium-phosphorus fertilizers. A sufficient amount of these trace elements will ensure intense flowering. This will be the basis for the formation of the ovary and the growth of the fruit. You can fertilize tomatoes at this stage of the growing season with the following dressings:
- superphosphate;
- wood ash;
- yeast;
- boric acid.
At the beginning of budding and opening of the first flowers, feeding with baker's yeast is carried out. 10 g of yeast and 10 g of sugar are placed in 10 liters of warm water at 30-40 ° C. Insist 2-3 hours. Before use, mix thoroughly and dilute with water 1:10 water the bushes. Simultaneously with the yeast undergrowth, wood ash is introduced under the bush (2-3 tbsp. L. Per plant).
And also during the flowering period, the use of superphosphate will be effective. For its quick assimilation, an extract is prepared. For this, 30 g of granules are poured into 1 liter of hot water and kept for 10-12 hours.The finished hood is diluted in 10 liters of water. In the evening, spray on the leaf.
For ovary
In order to stimulate the intensive formation of the ovary, tomatoes are treated with one of the following preparations:
- Boric acid. Prepare a solution observing a dosage of 10 g / 10 l of water. Consumption of 1 liter per 10 sq. m.
- Ovary. Dissolve 2 g of powder in 1.5 l of hot water. A glass or enamel container is used for the solution. This amount is enough to process 5-7 sq. m. beds.
- Vitalizer HB 101. The active substance is silicon dioxide. Apply according to the instructions.
- Hiberlinic acid. The drug is first diluted in alcohol (1 g / 100 ml). The concentrate can be stored for up to 4 months. To spray tomatoes, 35 ml of the concentrate is diluted in 5 liters of water.
Apply preparations for the ovary 2 times with an interval of 7 days during the period of mass flowering. They stimulate not only fruit setting, but also protect from shedding of flowers, improve resistance to diseases.
July
In the middle of summer, tomatoes have already set on the bushes, and in the early varieties, the first fruits begin to ripen. At this stage, you need to fertilize tomatoes to stimulate fruit growth, active weight gain. And also for raising the immunity of plants. For this purpose, phosphorus-potassium fertilizers are used, which do not contain chlorine. Kalimag is suitable, in which up to 1% chlorine, and it helps to increase the yield of tomatoes by 30-40%. In organic farming, ash, cement dust, humate potassium are used.
Application features:
- The beds are fertilized with ash, adding 2-3 tbsp. l. under a bush on moistened soil and embedded in the ground. Or an ash solution is prepared by dissolving a glass of ash in 10 liters of water and sprayed on a sheet. Promotes the growth of fruits, and also serves as a prophylactic agent against pests.
- Cement dust is scattered under the bushes (1 kg / sq. M.), Then thoroughly watered with water. Can be used on acidic soils. It is rich in potassium compounds and contains no chlorine.
- Potassium humate, it is better to use a liquid concentrate. For spraying, a solution is prepared with 10 liters of water and 15 ml of humate, and the bushes are treated in calm dry weather. For irrigation, a solution with a double concentration is prepared. Humate-potassium will improve the process of assimilation of nutrients from the soil, strengthen the immunity of plants. Enhances the synthesis of sugars and vitamins in fruits.
- Tomatoes are fed with kalimag by spraying. For this, 20 g of fertilizer is dissolved in warm water. In the morning or evening, at temperatures above 15 ° C, spray the solution throughout the plant.
It is enough to apply potassium fertilizing twice in July, keeping an interval of 10-12 days. Chemical fertilizers are stopped 20 days before harvest.
August
In August, all varieties of tomatoes begin to ripen and chemical fertilizing is not recommended. You can stimulate the ripening of medium and late varieties, as well as prolong the fruiting of tomatoes in the greenhouse with the help of folk remedies.
To stimulate the ripening of tomatoes, they are fertilized with iodine or ammonia. To do this, add 35 drops of iodine or 10 ml of alcohol to a bucket of water and spray the bushes. Repeat 2-3 times with an interval of 10 days. Such feeding will accelerate ripening and protect tomatoes from diseases.
And in order for the tomatoes to bear fruit in the greenhouse until late autumn, they use a solution with wood ash, manganese and boric acid. Dissolve 1 liter of ash in a bucket of hot water, when it cools down add 5 g of boric acid and manganese. Before use, reduce the concentration and dilute the solution with water (1 liter per 10 liters of water). Water the bushes at the rate of 0.5 liters per plant. Bushes need to be fertilized with such solutions every two weeks.
Conclusion
In order for tomatoes to grow healthy, they require fertilization throughout the summer. In different periods of the growing season, fertilizers of different composition and intensity are used. And regular top dressing will increase yields and extend fruiting until October.
