Detailed description of the breed and its origin

The homeland of the representatives of the breed, which is easy to guess from the name, is Czechoslovakia. It was there that the task was set to breed a special type of poultry, which would be distinguished by high egg production. For this, scientists selected only the best of best representativescapable of laying many eggs. As a result of many years of work, a golden breed of chickens from Czechoslovakia appeared.

Anyone will say that in the homeland these birds are affectionately called "golden speck". Why does chicken sound like Czech? The peculiar color is to blame for everything: the golden head goes well with feathers of a brown-gray hue, complemented by a black border. At the same time, the breast was painted by nature in the bright color of salmon with chocolate tints. You can look at the photos that most accurately convey all the features of the appearance of these layers. They differ from another household leader - the broiler.

The golden breed of chickens is so beautiful that sometimes amateurs give birth to it in order to decorate their farm. Males of the breed most often have black feathers all over the body with the exception of the head, back and loins, which are colored bright red. The main physical characteristics can be summarized as follows:

  • powerful comb in roosters;
  • medium-sized head;
  • strong and short neck;
  • the beak is dark in color with a slight bend;
  • legs are short enough and colored black;
  • fluffy tail;
  • the average body weight in males, which reaches 2 kg, and in chickens - up to 1.6 kg.

Compared to the Czech golden breed of chickens, the broiler looks like a giant among poultry. Another feature of the breed is that the chick that has just appeared already has a golden yellow color, complementing it with black dots.

Best Representative of Layers

It has already been mentioned somewhat above that the original purpose of this type of poultry was the production of a large number of eggs. While the broiler had to provide meat for the owner's family, these layers had a different function.

The breeders have tried their best, because, according to farm statistics, females are able to carry from 150 to 170 units per year.Thousands of poultry farmers around the world have enjoyed these highly impressive results. The egg produced by a hen of this breed is quite large in size and a good weight - about 50-55 g.

An important factor is the high survival rate of young Czech golden chickens. Unlike broilers, which are prone to disease at an early age, this breed retains at least 92% of its livestock. This is facilitated by the stable immunity inherent at the genetic level in birds of this species.

Care features

Another plus of the breed is its unpretentious care. In addition, golden chickens are able to quickly adapt to the new climate, changing seasons and the peculiarities of the area in which they live. As for the food, which is necessary for the representatives of the species, the main thing is that it contains all the chemical elements necessary for ordinary domestic birds. The maintenance and nutrition of feathered layers can be reduced to the following recommendations:

  • Feeders should always be full and have sufficient food and water;
  • in the hen house it is necessary to maintain cleanliness and a comfortable temperature regime;
  • the birds should have aviary for walking;
  • it is necessary to ensure timely vaccination to maintain the immunity of layers in order to prevent the death of livestock from seasonal diseases.
  • boiled eggs, grain (sprouted), bran, yeast, corn should be added to the diet, bone meal and eggshells to improve egg performance.

A little about breeding

Of course, every owner who decides to start a new poultry is looking for comprehensive information about the breed of interest to him. Professionals provide some tips for aspiring poultry farmers to ensure they get started successfully.

  1. Firstly, it is required to take a responsible approach to the choice of the future livestock of Czech golden chickens. The safest thing to do is to buy chicks at a poultry farm.
  2. Secondly, it is not worth buying individuals that have crossed the threshold at 5 months, at a young age it is easier for them to adapt to new living conditions.
  3. Thirdly, it is required to provide young animals with a complete menu, including food additives and products listed above. This will create the conditions for successful growth and increase the future chicken performance in laying eggs.

Sides of the medal

It is only natural that each breed has positive and negative sides. Czech breed of chickens, its description is no exception. The undoubted advantage of the golden chicken is its accelerated maturity, which occurs already at the age of 5.5 months. From that moment on, young females are able to lay the first eggs, some can even become wonderful hens. Their well-developed maternal instinct is noted by many farmers.

It should be noted that the meat of such birds has an excellent taste, the main thing is to properly serve the dish to the table. For example, the “guest” of the celebration can be Czech chicken with meat or Czech chicken with cabbage.

But this bird also has disadvantages. These include, in particular, excessive mobility. The bird is always full of energy, it needs a free territory and, accordingly, good nutrition... The whole day of these birds is built on activity. The increased emotional excitability of chickens is also associated with this: they are often fearful and nervous.

Golden chickens have firmly won leadership positions in the hearts of farmers in many countries, thanks to their unpretentiousness and high rates of egg production. If you create the right conditions for these hens, you can get excellent wet nurses for the whole family! The Czech real golden breed of chicken is a real pleasure for a professional, and chicken cooked in Czech is a delicious dish, so it would be stupid to deny yourself such a pleasure.

Poultry farmers should appreciate the benefits of this variety.
