Among the large number of different types of mushrooms, there are many unusual ones. These include the canine mutinus mushroom. It belongs to the Veselkov family and is poisonous. It grows more often on damp wood, sawdust and humus. Outwardly, the mushroom resembles the Raveneli mutinus and the morel (although the latter with a certain amount of imagination).

Description of appearance

At the initial stage of development, the canine mutinus has an oval shape and resembles an egg. The diameter of this formation is on average 3-4 cm. The color of the body is light yellow, there is a process that resembles the root of plants. Inside the "egg", surrounded by a thick jelly-like mass, a leg is gradually formed. As it grows, the appearance of the developing organism gradually changes:

  • the outer cover is torn and the leg comes out of it;
  • the color of the leg varies from light yellow to orange;
  • it has a spongy structure with a rough surface, the length reaches 10-15 cm;
  • the cap is slimy, olive-colored.

This mushroom has a pungent rotten smell that attracts flies. Insects carry spores on their paws and abdomen. After the visit of insects, the color of the cap turns into a rich orange color, and the fruit body begins to decay. After 3-5 days, it disappears completely.

The fruiting period is June-September. More often found in deciduous forests in the same place.

Irina Selyutina (Biologist):

Canine mutinus is a typical forest species, predominantly found in deciduous forests on humus-rich soil. It can be found in coniferous forests and among shrubs. The mushroom usually grows in groups. Where it appeared once, it bears fruit every year. In the temperate zone, fruiting bodies can appear from June to September. The young fruiting body is an "egg", white, oval or ovoid. Peridium is white, bursts when ripe, forming 2-3 lobes and remains at the base of the fruiting body. The recipe (often called the leg) is hollow, the structure is spongy, and the surface is porous. It is painted in a pale reddish orange color. In the upper part, it is pointed and turns into a thin head, no thicker than the base of the recipe. From above, the head is covered with an olive gleb mucous membrane.

The canine mushroom is difficult to confuse with another organism, but it has a close relative - the Raveneli mutinus. It is rare and inedible. Differs in a light pink leg. It also looks like an ordinary veselka. But it is edible at a young age and has a distinct "hat" - gleb.

Virulence

The canine mutinus mushroom is poisonous. In the egg stage, it is easy to confuse it with edible veselka, so sometimes there are cases of poisoning.

They absorb many toxins, heavy metal salts and copper isotopes. The first symptoms of poisoning appear at different times. It depends on the individual characteristics of the organism.

Poisoning symptoms

Symptoms of poisoning appear 2-3 hours after eating the mutinus. First of all, weakness and indigestion are felt. Later, other symptoms appear:

  • headache;
  • lowering blood pressure;
  • increased sweating;
  • increased body temperature;
  • cold limbs;
  • inflammation of the stomach walls (pain in the stomach area).

If a large amount of a poisonous substance enters the body, the development of botulism is possible. Seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Such symptoms of poisoning do not appear every time. If a person has eaten a small portion of mushrooms, they may not be there at all. But toxins can accumulate in the body and cause a deterioration in well-being later. There is a risk of a rather large development of vein thrombosis in the body, anemia, as well as stroke, heart attack, and less often - pulmonary vein thrombosis.

Treatment for poisoning

The fungus can cause severe poisoning

The fungus can cause severe poisoning

When the first signs of poisoning appear, they immediately call an ambulance. Before the arrival of the doctor, it is worth rinsing the stomach. First they drink a lot of water, and then they induce vomiting. This is necessary to remove pieces of the fungus from the stomach so that a probe can be inserted in a hospital. It is also useful to take a large portion of sorbents: 1 tablet of activated angle per 1 kg of body weight. To normalize the patient's condition, it is necessary:

  • take a laxative if the victim does not have diarrhea;
  • drink plenty of fluids to flush out toxins;
  • regularly check the patient's temperature.

Attention! It is forbidden to give alcohol to the victim, because it accelerates the absorption of toxic substances into the blood. Also, do not eat anything, take painkillers or antipyretics. Do not benefit from vomiting and diarrhea remedies.

After hospitalization, the patient's stomach is washed again, but a saline laxative is injected through a special tube and intravenously. Also, the patient is detoxified, it can be hemodialysis or enema. The choice of method depends on how much dangerous substance the patient has eaten. In severe cases, a drip is placed and antibiotic treatment is started.

It is important to stick to your diet for faster recovery. It includes:

  • refusal from spicy, salty, fatty and smoked foods;
  • a ban on drinking and smoking;
  • boiled and steamed food is introduced into the menu;
  • all products are finely chopped and chopped.

Please note! Violation of the diet during the recovery period is unacceptable.

Application in medicine

Canine mutinus mushroom is used in medicine. It is especially effective in treating gout. To prepare the medicine, you need to pour a handful of mushrooms with vodka or alcohol and leave for 2-3 days in a cool, dark place. Sore joints are lubricated with this agent several times a day.

"Jelly", which is located inside the egg and surrounds the developing "details", has strong healing properties. It helps to get rid of skin imperfections: wrinkles and breakouts. Sour cream is mixed with this substance and left on the affected areas for 10-15 minutes, then washed off with clean water. Attention! Be careful not to get the mask on the mucous membranes of your eyes or mouth.

Conclusion

Mutinus is an inedible mushroom. Some people think it can be eaten when it is in the egg stage. But you should not risk your health by checking this, because there are many cases of poisoning.

It is easy to recognize by the unusual shape of the "egg" from which the stem sprouts; this organism does not have the usual cap for mushrooms. Its distinctive feature is a pungent putrefactive smell that attracts insects.
