High flying pigeon breeds

These are elite individuals that have been carefully and carefully selected and bred for hundreds of years.
High flying pigeons
High-flying representatives are distinguished by high flight and fly far and long. "Beauty is rarely combined with wisdom" as well as with flying qualities. Breeders began to attach greater importance to the exterior of pigeons, and as a result, the birds have forgotten how to fly well, today there are several dozen breeds left, but each of them has its own outstanding characteristics. Sverdlovsk pigeons
Sverdlovsk pigeons are widespread in the Urals, although it cannot be said that they are only Ural pigeons. The breed lives in other cities of the country, albeit to a lesser extent. Such birds were bred from the Yekaterinburg gray-speckled pigeons. As a result of long-term selection, 5 varieties of the breed were obtained, the main difference of which is in color.
- Sverdlovsk high-flying pigeons quickly take off to a very high altitude. In flight, they last 3-6 hours, sometimes they can stay in the air throughout the night.
- Sverdlovsk individuals are perfectly oriented on the terrain, they always return back to the dovecote. They are rarely lost.
- The plumage is hard. Length - about 35-37 cm, strong constitution, oval head, medium beak. The eyes are light, white and yellow.
Budapest pigeons
Budapest pigeons, corresponding to the name, were bred in Budapest. High-flying birds of this breed are small in size, with a lively character. Strong and hardy, they fly high and long enough: from 5 to 10 hours. The breed is especially popular in Hungary. Feature: Budapest pigeons fly in a dense flock. It is considered a disadvantage if the birds pull away from each other. The body is medium in size, the low forehead flows smoothly into the black beak. The feathers of these birds are of different colors. Even red can be found among the shades.
Perm pigeons
Perm high-flying pigeons were bred in the city of Perm. For breeding, species of local birds and imported ones were crossed, as a result, a breed of pigeons with good flying abilities and a strong attachment to the pigeon house was obtained. Such birds are bred throughout Russia.
- There are many options for colors in the plumage: there are both monochrome birds and patterns. Among the latter, an interesting line of "cook" pigeons or hryvnyas with a colored spot. White-headed flyers look beautiful. You can see an example of such birds in the photo.
- Perm pigeons fly at low altitudes singly and in groups. The flight duration is from 5 to 12 hours. The most enduring and strongest birds are called "brilliant".
The Permian breed of sports pigeons stands out among all other varieties. For this reason, breeders often profit from beginner poultry houses by selling fakes or culls to them.
Mordovian flyers
Mordovian pigeons were bred in Mordovia, and this is the only fact known about their origin. The flight of birds is long, the flyer stays in the air from 7 to 10 hours. There are exceptions: some birds are more hardy than others. It all depends on the training and how beneficial the feeding was.
- Mordovian pigeons are extremely attached to the dovecote, and it is not easy to accustom them to a new home. It often happens that, having overwintered in a new place, the flyer in the spring goes in search of an old place of residence or refuses to eat and drink.
- The head is oval, with a steep forehead. The eyes are yellow in different shades. Mordovian flyers are usually black and blue in color with white streaks and spots. There are also black spots and streaks on a white background. They look effective, as can be seen by looking at the photo.

Fighting birds flap and flap their wings during flight. The flight peculiarity was developed thanks to long selection. The best fighting breeds are in Turkey, the Caucasus and Central Asia.

Other high flying breeds
Some breeds are popular mainly in their homeland, which does not make them worse than pigeons, whose fame has thundered all over the world. For example, many champions were bred in Kazan.
- The Dubovskie flyers were bred by Russian breeders. They are bred in the Volga region and in the Ukraine. Becoming and proud posture are their expressive features, and the plumage comes in a variety of colors.
