Origin and features

Pakistani pigeons get their name from their origin. They are indeed originally from India and Pakistan. Locals often keep such pigeons and are incredibly proud of them. Indo-Pakistani birds primarily became popular due to their endurance and the ability to fly without respite for about 12 hours in a row. Interestingly, even the extremely high air temperature of 50 ° C is not capable of stopping the flight. The weather is not an obstacle for them.

For many years in Abu Dhabi, 2 times a year, traditional pigeon competitions have been held for the duration of the stay in the air. Back in 1996, one bird set a record that no one has yet managed to beat - more than 22 flight hours. It even sounds incredible, but the pigeon of one of the sheikhs was able to.

Indo-Pakistani pigeon representatives are excellently oriented on the terrain and have an excellent memory, because they always return home. Fighting high-flying pigeons are all notable for their style of flight, but the Indopakistanians are superior to all others in that, when taking off, they do somersaults to the loud clicking of their own wings. But not only the unique flight glorified the Pakistani pigeon all over the world, but also its exquisite appearance and unpretentiousness. This type of pigeon can have feathers of different colors with a specific pattern and original decorations on the head and legs.

Appearance description

Those who have seen Pakistani high-flying birds at least once in life or in a photo will agree that they look extremely neat. Thin features and more often a light color, which emphasizes the pattern on the body, with a dark head and neck.

The breed has several subspecies, in connection with which a pigeon may be without feathers on its legs or, conversely, with them, with an ornament on its head, but at the same time it is absent in others. Indo-Pakistani representatives always have a long tail, which other high-flying pigeons cannot boast of. It consists of at least 12 feathers. In short, Pakistani fighting pigeons are extremely different from each other in appearance, which makes them even more unique and popular. The general characteristics of the species include:

  • strong body with a wide chest;
  • miniature head;
  • the average size;
  • a white feather with a pattern that remains on it for life;
  • elongated tail;
  • wing with black color along the edge.

Nursing and training

Indo-Pakistani pigeons need regular training, and caring for them does not take long. Fighting birds inherit the ability to fly in a certain style from their parents, so experienced pigeon breeders simply help these qualities develop.True, there are times when a pigeon falls like a stone during a somersault and tragically dies. This should be taken into account during preparatory training.

Adults and experienced birds demonstrate aerobatics, making every flight unforgettable for the viewer without harm to health. If you perform such complex elements even in windy weather, pigeons are able to obtain excellent balance and stamina. The flight of beautiful Pakistani pigeons is swift and long. It is not a problem for them to circle without a break for up to 10 hours, in just a couple of minutes they are able to gain great height. A Pakistani achieves this level of skill in one year of life.

Specificity of the breed

It is very difficult to distinguish the sex of pigeons, since at an early age all birds look the same and only during puberty do some changes in the appearance and behavior of birds occur. Experts consider the females of this breed to be slightly wild. When one incubates eggs and someone enters the dovecote, the bird leaves the nest and approaches the visitor. At the same time, she looks at him with some kind of dumb question and request, as if waiting for the moment when a person leaves her territory. Only after he leaves, the female returns to the eggs in the nest.

An interesting fact: literally a month after the appearance of the chicks, the pigeon, although it takes care of food for the offspring, is already driving the female out to make a new clutch of eggs. A well-developed maternal instinct manifests itself in a willingness to protect babies from people. Seeing a stranger, Pakistani females express their indignation by making intense flapping of their wings, they also hatch other people's eggs with ease, but only similar in size to their own.

Professional pigeon breeders and ordinary observers are captivated by the way Pakistani beautiful pigeons fly. That only there are acrobatic numbers with somersaults and freezing at a height with spread wings. They seem to jerk themselves upward during each revolution. You can watch the artistic soaring for hours. But high-flying pigeons are capable of flying at high altitudes and are often so far from the ground that they are difficult to see.

Those who plan to breed this breed should know one important point: all birds in a flock at different ages begin to fly in such a peculiar way. And, while some are capable of complex tricks from the age of three months, others will only be able to do it 1.5 years after birth. There are those who will never be able to master this technique. They are called prosthetics. The unpretentiousness of birds makes them a godsend for beginners in this business.
