Application of Lasota for pigeons
Every breeder knows that the most important thing is to preserve the health of the breeding objects. If one gets sick, it infects all the others. Birds are susceptible to various diseases. A common bird disease is Newcastle. A swarm for pigeons and birds is a vaccine against this disease. Vaccine Description
Lasot is available in dry and liquid form. The dry version of the vaccine is yellow or brown. The powder mixes with water, and dissolution occurs quickly and completely, without flakes or sediment. Half of the drug is occupied by additional substances: skim milk and lactalbumin hydrolyzate. The liquid variation is packed in glass jars with rubber lids and aluminum hermetically sealed caps. After special drying, the vials are evacuated.
Then the jars are laid out in containers made of polystyrene foam, in which there are special honeycombs for bottles of appropriate sizes, in order to avoid damage to the packaging. In addition to the medicine, each box contains a user manual. The number of doses in one container is from 1000 pieces.
Functions and result
Lasota is a drug aimed at preventing Newcastle disease, which damages the respiratory, digestive and nervous systems. This especially dangerous virus is transmitted by air, through food, the joint keeping of sick pigeons and healthy ones. Symptoms of the disease:
- heat;
- loss of orientation;
- enlarged goiter;
- liquid with an unpleasant odor leaking from the mouth;
- refusal to eat;
- liquid droppings with mucus, blood, or bile.
More severe symptoms include paralysis, breathing with an open beak, stunted development of the bird, and decreased ability to lay eggs. When using this remedy, the action begins a week after the initial intake, the health guarantee is about 2 subsequent months. The vaccine is safe and has no therapeutic effect.
Important points
This vaccine is used as a prophylaxis for birds, including pigeons, therefore the instructions for its use are an important component.
- Deadline. The start of the use of this prophylactic drug is indicated according to the result of the degree of maternal antibodies in chicks that have reached the age of 10 days, studying in a hemagglutenation inhibition reaction or enzyme immunoassay, at least over 25 pigeons.
- Value. Vaccination is possible when the result of 20% in the RTGA is less than 1: 8, and in the ELISA - below a twofold value in the positive direction, calculated by the guidelines for using the prophylactic agent used to obtain a diagnosis.
At 80%, the RTGA is more than 1: 8, and in the ELISA above a two-fold value in the positive direction, the diagnostic procedure is repeated 5 days later, and when the immunity is below a given percentage, vaccination is performed.
How to apply
Instructions for use must be studied. The vaccine can be applied intranasally (on the nasal mucosa), ocularly (by dropping the eyes), enterally (into the oral cavity), mixed with water or by spraying.
Intrasal and ocular methods are as follows: 0.1 cc. cm saline mix with concentrate in one vial. 2 drops of the mixture are instilled into the nasal cavity for each chick. If the nasal cavity is blocked, the vaccine is injected into the conjunctiva of the eye.
The enteral method of vaccination says: one hour before the operation, you must calculate the amount of water you drink per number of pigeons or other birds. Drinking containers are thoroughly washed out, excluding the use of disinfectants.
Access to vaccine water must be free for all pigeons requiring this procedure. About 1.5 hours should go to this operation. After using the remedy, it is undesirable to give the winged water for 4 hours. Water suitable for mixing with the vaccine should be around 25 ° C and should be free of chlorine and iron. For one bird, the volume of water drunk in 1.5 hours is calculated, mixed with an amount of 10 doses of the drug. For better assimilation and action of the vaccine, skimmed milk powder is added in an amount of 5% by volume of water. Before and after this operation, the birds are given free food.
Spray method
If there is a risk of catching the infection at a young age, then the spray method is used. The age for carrying out the procedure starts from 24 hours after hatching. You can spray with any spray, the main condition is the cleanliness of the device and use only for the vaccine.
250 ml of water is mixed with 1000 Lasota vines. Chicks are planted in a box without an upper part so that there is a minimum of free space between the pigeons and are sprayed with a product at a distance of about 35 cm.
The aerosol method requires special equipment and will be appropriate for large poultry farms. Lasota is poured into special generators, and then, according to the manual, the installation is made to the mechanism and the generator is started.
Side effects
Young chicks may experience minor problems 2-4 days after vaccination, such as shortness of breath, impotence or lack of appetite. After 2 weeks, everything is back to normal. No problems were recorded in adult birds. The rules for the procedure are as follows:
- it is forbidden to use Lasota with other vaccines;
- you cannot carry out the procedure without protective clothing, as well as glasses and a mask;
- do not use a drug that has expired.
The term and conditions of storage of the drug
The storage area should be dry and dark. Temperature - not higher than 8 ° С, not lower than 2 ° С. The term of legal capacity of Lasota is no more than 1 year, taking into account proper storage. If the packaging is broken, there are no labels, certificates and other required documents, the vaccine is thrown away. With an unusual color, a strange consistency, it is also forbidden to use the drug. 4 hours after opening the bottle, the product should not be used.
Lasota has established itself on the market as an excellent prophylactic agent that has no consequences. Subject to the above rules, the calculation of doses, amount of water, etc. a successful result is guaranteed, there is only a minimal chance of contracting the Newcastle virus.
