Iranians in the 18th century described a similar breed of pigeons in their sources. Today, birds are widespread throughout Russia, but the breed has undergone some changes: now the pigeons have a more pronounced crest, and there is no plumage on the legs.

The poultry farmers themselves began to orient the breeding of the breed according to the demand of the consumer and adjusting it to their own needs. The most important advantage of the birds is considered to be unusually beautiful flying games, the so-called high fight.

Flight qualities

Baku pigeons have an excellent sense of space. Birds are capable of flying enormous distances and soaring very high into the sky. A feature of the Baku breeds of pigeons is that they do not fly in flocks, but one by one, showing incredible tricks in flight.

Baku pigeons are capable of performing various flight elements. First of all, these are pole exits. Soaring into the sky, the bird quickly flaps its wings, making a lot of noise, and, having reached a certain height, makes a sharp turn and descends. While flying vertically, a Baku resident is able to perform about a dozen coups while advancing to his destination. Black-tailed pigeons are able to make a post more than 15 m high, while performing 5-7 somersaults.

Baku pigeons can make spiral turns during the flight. Just a mind-boggling sight of stuck combat. This type of flight is characterized by slow progress, hovering, turning, and again advancing.

Variety of species

Baku people are winged, which are divided into species, differing in color of feathers and other external features. Let's consider the most common types of these pigeons. Agbash - Baku pigeons, which are highly resistant to various diseases. Among them there are specimens with and without feathers on their paws.

Pigeons Baku breeds of Chile are distinguished by a bright and varied color. Individuals with red, black and white feathers can be found. The plumage on the head is motley. On the paws - dense. Black-tailed or red-tailed Baku people are often monochromatic, only their tails are always black or red.

Pigeons of Baku "detachment" Marble have not only a proportional physique, but also an unusual color, which resembles a speckled pattern. In young animals, the plumage is brighter, and with age it becomes darker. There are marble pigeons with and without a tuft.

The most beautiful representative is a bronze Baku citizen. Its feathers are red with black dots. The Baku pigeon Sheika, or Grivun, has a monochromatic feather color. In the area of the neck, it has a pronounced contrast spot. The most common specimens are white and dull colors with a black or bluish stripe in the neck area.

Baku Wide-tailed pigeons are high-flying. This is a very beautiful and strong bird. It can have a different color of feathers, but the most common are ash, milky, white and light tones. White Baku pigeons are a special species that unites many individuals of the same color. They are superior to all other breeds in flight performance.

Features of care and breeding

The exterior and physical characteristics of the Baku pigeon were getting better, thanks to the long selection period. And although they initially contain all the data, in order to perform all kinds of tricks in the air, it is necessary to maintain and develop abilities. For full-fledged training and flights, the bird needs energy and, accordingly, a proper balanced diet, which the owner must take care of.

Females rush throughout the year, even during molting. If the plans do not include an increase in the number of livestock, it is necessary to remove from the room all items that are suitable for building a nest. When buying, you need to contact only trusted and reliable pigeon breeders, because during the purchase, most likely no one will let you check the pigeons. Purebred individuals for breeding are selected based on the results of training.

Young birds should make their first flight as early as 1.5 months. Upon reaching the age of one and a half months, the chicks begin to be driven out for training, gradually increasing the time. The best option is to divide the livestock into groups of 7-8 individuals and take them to training one by one. Young animals' playing skills appear after six months, when the molting period has passed. The flight style will be fully formed only in 2-3 years.

It is best to start training pigeons in the spring. It is also not recommended to train pigeons in cold weather, it is better not to release them at all at this time. It is important to remember that before releasing a pigeon into flight for the first time, it must be well fed so that it has enough strength.

How to feed

Some poultry farmers believe that it is necessary to underfeed Baku residents a little, as if this simplifies upbringing. But not everyone adheres to this idea. The only thing that is known for sure is that you should not overfeed the birds. In the diet of pigeons in winter, vitamins must be present. Birds are extremely sensitive to vitamin deficiencies in winter. The pigeon sits on its eggs after molting around November-December. Only hatched pigeons need to be fed clearly according to the regimen. For pigeons, soft food is shown, which must be given to chicks at noon.

For this winged species, grains are very important in the diet.Millet should make up a significant part of it, and it is worth choosing grains of bright colors: they have more useful substances. If the main ingredient of the compound feed is wheat, it is important to take into account that it has a low calcium content and therefore it is necessary to include mineral supplements. Oats contain a lot of fiber and husk, pigeons are reluctant to eat it, but the product is well absorbed.

Barley needs to be crushed before feeding. Corn contains a lot of nutrients necessary for the full development of birds. The main problem is the large grains, so only small grain varieties are used. For this breed, corn feed should not be given very often because its consumption leads to obesity.

Practical advice

There are rules to follow to avoid the most common mistakes in pigeon breeding. In no case should doves be released for training a couple of days before and after laying. It is also not recommended to take adult birds from pigeons until they are 7 days old. If major competitions are coming, the birds should be put on a diet that excludes heavy food.

Also, you cannot release a flock in the middle of the city: the birds need an open space. When training pigeons, it is better not to mix the young with the old, but to release the females separately from the males. In bad weather, you cannot train a pack, because it can get lost.

Final part

Baku fighting pigeons are the most beautiful and popular breed among pigeon breeders. Their distinctive features are special flight, aerial play, as well as proportional external data. There are many varieties of the breed. The most common: White, Chile, Black-tailed, Multi-feather, Marble.

The white dove is considered the strongest and most developed physically. This variety has a pure white feather color. Marble birds are distinguished by interesting variegated colors. Chile is somewhat similar to the previous representative of the genus in appearance, and also have a bright multi-colored plumage. Black-tailed birds are characterized by a uniform color of feathers and black or red tails.

Despite the fact that all individuals of this breed are genetically inherent in the ability to unusually beautiful flight and play, they must be constantly developed. In order for the bird to be active and the raising process to be successful, it must receive high-quality balanced feed rich in proteins, fats and vitamins necessary for the normal functioning of the body. In general, the breed is not that finicky, and the breeding process is not difficult.

Now you know everything about the beautiful Baku pigeons and are ready to "shelter" them at home.
