Garlic is grown in every vegetable garden. Some vegetable growers prefer winter garlic, another part - spring garlic. In both cases, the crop is overgrown with weeds. In the fight against them, a herbicide for garlic will help. Such drugs are offered in large quantities by specialized stores. Herbicides for garlic are divided into preparations for the winter variety and for the spring crop.

Characteristics of herbicides

A herbicide is a drug that is designed to fight weeds. It is of two types:

  • Continuous action. Kills absolutely all plants on the site. Such preparations are necessary for the destruction of vegetation in water bodies, on the railway, on the territory of industrial enterprises.
  • Selective action. It is able to destroy weed specimens without damaging cultivated plants. This herbicide has found application in vegetable gardens.

Application

The herbicide is applied according to the following scheme:

  • diluted in water, the amount of the drug is needed;
  • pour the solution into a spray bottle;
  • spraying garlic beds.

Any herbicide for garlic requires dosing according to the instructions offered by the manufacturers, otherwise the result from the use of chemistry will be the opposite of what is expected. An overdose of herbicides for garlic from weeds leads to the death of the plantings. An insufficient dose of the drug does not rid the area of weeds.

The main purpose of the herbicide is to ensure that all soil resources go to cultivated plants and not to weeds.

Totril

The drug Totril is manufactured by the German company Bayer Crop Saenz. This herbicide is applied to winter garlic varieties. It works effectively on one-year-old weeds. It is used on plants with up to 6 true leaves.

The consumption of the German herbicide is from 1.5 liters to 3.0 liters per 1 ha of land. The processing of garlic crops is carried out in the phase of 2-3 true leaves. The advantage of Totril is that it does not remain in the garlic.

Hurricane forte

The active ingredient of the Swiss herbicide for garlic from Syngenta is glyphosate. The preparation contains unique surfactants that quickly penetrate and redistribute glyphosate in plants.

The drug has proven itself well in the fight against perennial weeds. For greater efficiency, the herbicide is applied in the fall after harvest. They are sprayed with weeds. The consumption of the drug is 1.5 liters of solution for each hectare of planting.

Fluusilade Forte

We destroy the weeds

We destroy the weeds

Herbicide against wild-growing weeds on garlic beds from Syngenta Fusilad Forte is used at a rate of 1 liter of solution per 1 hectare of land. The same drug can be used to combat perennial weeds. In this case, the consumption of herbicide for garlic will be 2 liters per hectare of planting.

They begin to spray the plants with 2 real leaves and continue until the bushes form. 7 to 10 days should pass between sprays.

Fusilad garlic herbicide is effective against wheatgrass. Spraying the plant is carried out in 2 steps:

  • Wheatgrass in the phase of 3-4 leaves is treated with Fusilade solution at the rate of 1 liter per 1 hectare of land.
  • After 2 weeks, the weed is treated with herbicide at the rate of 1.25 liters per hectare of garlic beds.

After such treatment, no mechanical treatment of the beds is carried out for a month. The use of other herbicides in this area is possible only after 7-10 days.

The use of a Swiss herbicide for garlic will pay off if the thermometer does not rise above 27 ° C. Vegetable growers recommend not using the drug in dry weather: wheatgrass is more resistant to herbicides in such conditions. Garlic treated with herbicide is used for food no earlier than 30 days after treatment.

Stomp

The German drug Stomp contains pendimethalin. Its concentration is 330 g per 1 liter. The drug is used to control annual weeds at the germination stage on winter garlic plantings. You can apply the herbicide:

  • immediately after the autumn planting of garlic cloves;
  • in early spring before the emergence of weeds.

The consumption of the drug is from 3 liters to 5 liters of solution for each hectare of crop planting. The treatment of the beds is carried out by spraying.

Recommendations

  • before spraying, be sure to water the soil well;
  • if the garlic was planted to a depth of less than 5 cm, such a herbicide is not used;
  • the drug continues to act in the ground for 3-4 months;
  • The stomp is used at temperatures from 5 ° C to 25 ° C in calm weather, the optimal time for processing plantings is early morning;
  • the rate of application of the herbicide depends on the composition of the soil and the types of weeds growing on the site.

Goal

Good garlic is only born with proper care

Good garlic is only born with proper care

Oxyfluorfen, which is found in the Swiss manufacturer Syngenta's Goal garlic herbicide, has proven itself well in the fight against annual weeds.

The drug is used in the spring in garlic beds, when the seedlings of the culture have reached a height of 10 cm. The consumption rate of the drug is from 50 ml to 300 ml per 1 hectare of land. The greatest effect is noticeable on weeds that are up to 7 cm long.

Recommendations

  • at temperatures above 23 ° C, the preparation for spraying the beds cannot be used;
  • the herbicide is used in stable sunny weather (at least 2-3 days);
  • garlic beds damaged by sudden frosts cannot be processed.

In the soil, the chemical composition does not last long. The Swiss Goal can be replaced by the Israeli Galigan. The spectrum of action of the drugs is the same.

Targa Super

The chemical composition for the fight against wild-growing weeds from the formed two leaves to the formation of shrubs was developed by German chemists at Bayer Crop Saenz. The recommended consumption rate of Targa Super is from 10 ml to 15 ml per 10 sq. m.

This drug is used to kill wheatgrass. The solution is consumed at the rate of 25 ml per 10 sq. m.

Recommendations

  • After processing, do not carry out any agrotechnical measures in the garlic beds.
  • Do not process plantings at temperatures above 27 ° C.
  • Eat garlic from the sprayed beds no earlier than a month after processing.
  • Cool and dry weather suspends the effect of the drug, but the effectiveness does not decrease.
  • Targa Super, which got into the soil during processing, continues to act for another 35-40 days.

Lontrel Grand

The Swiss drug Lontrel Grand has proven itself well in the fight against any weeds. Its active ingredient is clopyralid. The herbicide is used if the thermometer readings are in the range from 10 ° C to 25 ° C. Weed plants are treated up to the flowering phase. The consumption rate of the solution is from 100 ml to 160 ml per 1 hectare of plantings. If garlic is grown for greens, it is prohibited to use the drug.

Gezagard

Garlic herbicide Gezagard is effective against annual weeds. Its effectiveness is provided by a high concentration of prometrine, which is 500 g per 1 liter of solution.

The drug is absorbed both by shoots and roots, and through the leaf plates of weeds. The maximum effect from the use of the drug is observed on plants that have formed less than 2 leaves.

Gezagard can be used together with other herbicides. For reinsurance, drugs are checked for compatibility.

Benefits

  • One treatment with this preparation is sufficient for 2-3 months of effective weed control.
  • If the dosages are observed, the culture is not saturated with toxins.

Weeds in garlic beds are not troublesome and can cause crop death. For weed control, there are a large number of chemicals that have proven to be quite effective in action. Today, a large selection of chemical mixtures in the form of liquids, suspensions of dry formulations for combating weeds is offered by the Moldovan company "Phoenix". The correct dosage of drugs is the key to weed-free garlic plantings.
