Anyone interested in fast-growing meat ducks should pay attention to the Agidel - a breed that has a number of remarkable characteristics. Its main distinguishing feature is its versatility, which makes it possible to keep and breed such birds both at agricultural enterprises and at home. It should also be noted that the Agidel duck is capable of "boasting" a very prestigious origin. This broiler breed was obtained by crossing the Indian Runner, Blagovarsky Cross and Super M, which allowed it to receive a lot of undeniable advantages.

The characteristic gives an idea of ​​the characteristics of this type of ducks. Starting to describe the Agidel duck, it is necessary to highlight the following peculiarities inherent in it, which are the most significant:

  • perfect white color of plumage, excluding the presence of other shades, which can be easily verified by reading the many photos and videos dedicated to this bird;
  • long and large head with a wide beak;
  • dark eyes, strongly contrasting with the white color of the bird's feather;
  • a relatively long neck of medium thickness;
  • prominently protruding chest;
  • almost perfectly horizontal position of the wide and sturdy body;
  • the weight of an adult is about 3.5-3.8 kg for females and males, respectively;
  • average egg production - 240-250 eggs per year, which is a fairly high figure for a broiler breed;
  • the weight of one egg is from 77 to 95 g (depending on the line to which the duck agidel belongs: egg or meat).

In addition, it is worth adding that the description of the Agidel breed would be incomplete if it did not include a mention of the nature of these birds. Practice shows that they are distinguished by a very calm character, and therefore show concern only in case of danger threatening them.

Anyone who has been involved with these ducks for a long time will also confirm that their mortality rates are relatively low, which makes breeding such birds highly justified from an economic point of view.
  • Ease of caring for ducks of the presented breed, which is especially important for novice poultry breeders.
  • Very fast growth, thanks to which Agidel ducks reach a weight of 3 kg in some 1.5 months.
  • A moderate indicator of fat content of meat - on average 5% less than that of representatives of most other duck breeds.
  • There is no need for additional veterinary procedures, making the breeding process for these birds extremely easy and profitable.

Feeding such birds does not provide for any particular difficulties: the main thing is only that the food contains a set of basic nutrients, vitamins and microelements necessary for ducks.

Features of the content

As mentioned above, the Agidel duck does not belong to overly demanding birds. Given this circumstance, we can confidently state that anyone who wants to take care of such ducks can master it, and with minimal time costs. First of all, it provides for the consideration of the following main points:

  • The house intended for keeping the birds in question must be dry, not lacking in lighting, and also have good ventilation.
  • In order for the birds to feel comfortable, 1 sq. m of floor should be no more than 4 adults.
  • It is most rational to keep ducks in small groups.
  • The height of the partitions must be 70 cm or more.
  • It is advisable to make the nests based on the dimensions 35 x 40 x 40 cm, trying not to move them from place to place.
  • It is justifiable to sprinkle the floor of the house with dry straw, since the feathered inhabitants of this dwelling splash a lot of water, and the flooring should not become wet.

In the case of Agidel ducks, it makes sense to equip a small pool on the pasture. Of course, they can do without it, but its presence will definitely not hurt, given that the birds in question are waterfowl.

Feeding rules

One of the main features that distinguish the feeding of the birds considered in this material is the absence of the need to use mixtures with increased calorie content. It is also noteworthy that even for relatively small ducklings, such food as whole grains is excellent. Being very undemanding to the diet, these birds can easily find all the necessary food on their own - in the pasture. If such an option is impossible for one reason or another, then the owners of agidel ducks should be given such food as:

  • various greens (preferably fresh);
  • hay;
  • cereals (primarily grain);
  • chaff;
  • duckweed.

The reviews left about feeding the Agidel duck confirm that the presented bird does not differ in bad appetite. This means that in order to gain weight quickly, as well as in order to ensure the high quality of its meat, it is not worth limiting this duck in the diet. So, in the cold season, the birds in question are recommended to be fed three times a day, and during oviposition - four times. In addition, it is important to remember that these birds need a lot of clean water, the deficit of which is completely unacceptable.

Breeding Agidel ducks

Talking about what the birds in question are remarkable for, it is worth noting that they breed twice a year - most often in mid-late spring and in July. On average, the productivity of one female is 50 ducklings, which allows us to make a logical conclusion about the high economic feasibility of breeding birds of this breed. It should also be added that it is most rational to raise offspring using an incubator. This is due to the origin of ducks bred by crossing several breeds and crosses.If we list the key conditions that must be taken into account in this situation, then their list is presented below:

  • When choosing eggs for an incubator, you should carefully examine them, rejecting specimens with cracks, dents and bumps.
  • During the first two weeks of incubation, the temperature should be in the region of 37.4-38 ° C. With the onset of the 15th day, it should be increased by about 0.6 ° C, and after another week - by an additional 0.4 ° C.
  • It is recommended to turn eggs at least 10 times a day.
  • During the first 7 days, the humidity in the incubator should be about 65%, and after that it should be around 45%.
  • It is advisable to cool eggs at least 2 times a day, observing the same time intervals.

After the birth of Agidel ducklings, which in most cases occurs on day 28, small birds need to be provided with round-the-clock lighting. In the future, its intensity must be reduced, while maintaining the number of hours of operation of the light source. If we highlight other important points related to the maintenance of such ducklings, then their list looks like this:

  • the first 2 weeks of lighting should be around the clock, and then - 9 hours;
  • the number of ducklings per 1 sq. m of floor should not exceed the mark of 30-35 individuals;
  • if the babies are kept in cages, then in each of them there should be no more than a dozen chicks;
  • access of birds to water should be free and constant;
  • at first, ducklings should be fed with crushed grain or ready-made mixtures, and then gradually transfer them to whole grains, greens and cake.

Subject to these simple rules, babies grow up quite quickly, changing yellow to white and gaining weight at a truly impressive pace, becoming ready for slaughter for meat by 60-65 days of age.
