Landing

Seeds for planting must be prepared

Seeds for planting must be prepared

Sowing is carried out directly into the ground, without preparing seedlings in advance. The best time to plant seeds is at the end of May. Although the culture grows without seedlings, it is recommended not to exclude this method.

The seeds should be soaked in water for a couple of hours, put in a wet cloth and covered, leaving for 3-4 days. After such a procedure, the first shoots will begin to appear from them, so they can be planted in separate containers, deepening 5-7 cm into the ground. Peat pots are suitable for this.

The best time for sowing is the end of April. In mid-May, you can transfer the seedlings to the ground under a shelter.

The sprouts are planted in the ground according to the 1.5 x 1 m scheme. Before that, 5-6 kg of humus are introduced into each hole and 2 tbsp. l. organic fertilizer. The culture grows well on compost heaps. The seedlings should be watered immediately, and the film should be removed after 1 month.

Care

Taking care of a pumpkin bush is easy.

Water the plant regularly. We start with a small amount of water (2-3 liters), which increases as the bush grows (up to 10 liters for a seedling). When the fruits reach their maximum size, it is better to stop watering so that the vegetables do not rot.

You need to feed the plant 2 times a month. For this, a mullein and an organic fertilizer complex in equal proportions are suitable. You can fertilize the culture with these funds until the end of July. From August, it is better to use only top dressing that contains potassium, because it helps the fruit to ripen sooner.

Pastilla-champagne weaves well, therefore, before the fruits begin to tie, you can install a net next to it, on which the whips will climb. Excess ovaries must be removed, otherwise the lash will break off. Leave 4-5 pieces, which are tied with twine.

Before setting, the plants are treated with agents against diseases and various pests. Harvested in late September or early October. A pumpkin is ripe if its stalk has hardened and began to dry out.

Fruits are picked only with stalks, without them they will not be stored. The optimal conditions are keeping the culture at room temperature. In this case, the fruits are stored for up to 3-4 months.
