Growing features

There are two ways to grow this variety:

  • in the open field;
  • with the help of seedlings.

Seeds are planted in open ground. Before that, they can be treated with a concentrated solution of potassium permanganate or soaked in water for several hours until white noses appear. Seeds should be planted in April, when the ground has already warmed up to at least 10 ° C.

For seeds, special holes are made, 2-3 pieces are placed in each with their spouts up, after having plentifully watering the soil and adding ash. After 3 months, the first harvest will appear.

Plants need good care

Plants need good care

The best way to grow a crop is with seedlings, especially in the northern regions. So the plant takes root faster and gives a good harvest. Seedlings need to be prepared on their own. To begin with, buy the required amount of seeds.

For them, you need to take natural fabric or gauze folded in 2-4 layers. The fabric must be wet, put the seeds inside and cover them. Leave the material for 3-4 days, during which the fabric must be wetted when it dries.

You can put these seeds for a day in the refrigerator directly in the tissue, this helps the plant to become frost-resistant. Small containers are prepared for seedlings, ordinary plastic cups can be used, but peat pots are better suited.

Pre-prepare the soil, it should be with mineral fertilizers.The seeds are planted to a depth of 2-3 cm so that the seedlings sprout through the ground. After the seedlings are watered abundantly and covered with foil. Leave it like this for a month, watering 1-2 times every two weeks.

You need to choose a time for boarding in advance. The description suggests that seedlings are prepared from April 20 to May 10, and planting in open ground - from May 10 to June 20. The ground temperature must be at least 10 ° C. Because bushes tend to trail, it is optimal to plant sprouts with a pattern of 90 x 150 cm.

Care

The plant requires proper care. Choose a warm and well-lit place. For the Atlant variety, soil with low acidity is more suitable, but with a lot of organic fertilizers. The plant tolerates drought well, has resistance to rot and powdery mildew.

To get a good harvest, you need to water the pumpkin bush regularly. Moisten it immediately after planting, and then every week so that 1 bucket of water per week is spent on one bush. Do not water the bush after the fruits have set. If the soil moisture is sufficient, the pumpkins will ripen well without watering.

The fruits grow large, the bushes are woven, so you need to pinch the side lashes and the main stem, and weed regularly. Periodically, the soil where the culture grows needs to be fed with organic mixtures.

Harvested at the end of September, then the pumpkins already reach their maximum size. They are perfectly transported and stored under proper conditions for up to a year.
