The description of the liana-like culture includes several distinctive qualities:

  • shoots are cylindrical, 3-4 mm thick, reaching 10 m in length;
  • in young specimens, the branches are flexible, in adults they are lignified, therefore, at the beginning of growth, they are immediately placed in the right direction;

It is important that the stems are solid, without cracks, breaks, dry areas and growths. The leaves are fresh, juicy, rich in tone, without yellowness and blotches of black, brown. The substrate is slightly damp, there is no mold, plaque or signs of acidification on the surface.

The purchased flower is taken to a separate room and kept for 3 weeks. During quarantine, you can determine its condition - whether it has diseases or pests. He will also be able to get used to the home growing conditions. Sick specimens are irrigated with fungicides for infections, and insecticides for parasites. One week after treatment, they are placed among other vegetation in the house.

Landing rules

To grow the elegant Hoya Vayeti, you need a loose and light soil that you can prepare yourself - mix turf, humus, peat and sand in a 2: 1: 1: 1 ratio.

Many growers take a ready-made substrate for planting decorative flowering plants.

The best place for keeping will be the southern or southwestern part of the house, since this variety loves a lot of light. At lunchtime, it is covered from the scorching rays to avoid burns. If kept on the north window, artificial lighting will be required.

The necessary conditions

Growing Hoya Vayeti in an apartment or house will be successful if certain conditions are met.

The plant prefers high humidity - 75-80%. In spring and summer, the crown is irrigated with warm water after three days. In extreme heat, this procedure is carried out every day.

In the cold season, one spraying per month is enough.

For adult flowers, you can arrange warm showers - once every 30 days. Before washing the stems and leaves, cover the soil with polyethylene.

Temperature:

  • In the phase of active growth of green mass and flowering - 22-25 ° C.
  • In autumn and winter, the flower needs coolness - 15-16 ° C.

The room is regularly ventilated. Before that, the hoya is taken to another place, since from the sharp jumps in temperature, it will begin a massive leaf fall.

The light should be diffused, daylight, at least 10 hours a day. Therefore, it is grown on windowsills where there is sunlight in the morning and evening. In winter, illuminate with a fluorescent lamp.

Care features

This tropical plant requires standard home care, so every grower, even a beginner, can grow it.

Watering

Moisten as the soil dries to a depth of 3-4 cm. In the warm season, the frequency is once every 7 days, in winter - every two weeks.

Use warm, settled water to prevent hypothermia of the roots. After moistening, the substrate is loosened, which will help to avoid the appearance of a crust on its surface.

Top dressing

Fertilize with ready-made mineral compounds, which can be purchased at a flower shop. Suitable feeding for decorative flowering plants. They are brought in every two weeks, from spring to early autumn.

Nutrition is combined with watering to speed up the absorption of nutrients and prevent burning of the roots.

Pruning

This plant grows rapidly, so the growth of the stems must be inhibited from time to time. Every spring, the longest lashes are cut by 15-20 cm.

In parallel, all non-viable places are cut off - yellowed, dried and rotten twigs, leaves. After pruning, the crown is irrigated with Epin so that the hoya recovers faster.

Transfer

For transplantation, use a purchased substrate or prepared independently. Take a container 2-3 cm larger in diameter than the previous one and always with drainage holes. Expanded clay or pebbles are laid at the bottom.

Transplanting is carried out by the method of transshipment of an earthen coma. This procedure is carried out for purchased plants after a three-week quarantine. Also, young flowers are regularly transplanted - after a year and adults every 3-4 years.

If the roots of the hoya are rotten, it should also be transplanted, otherwise it will die. It is watered, the root system is pulled out, washed from the ground, dried.

All rot is cut off with a sharp and sterile instrument, then dipped in a fungicide solution. After an hour of soaking, dry it, sprinkle it with charcoal, and plant it in a new pot with disinfected soil.

Reproduction methods

There are several options for how to get new seedlings from an old plant at home.

Cuttings

Shoots are cut in spring or summer during sanitary pruning. Take segments 15-20 cm long with several leaves and buds. All the foliage is removed from the bottom, then dipped in water for an hour with the addition of Epin. They are planted in a mixture of peat and sand to a depth of 3 cm, moistened.

To make them take root faster, they are regularly watered, provide stable heat within 22-25 ° C.

After the appearance of several leaves, the cuttings can be planted separately.

Stem layering

Choose the flexible and strongest lash, cut in the middle. Wrap the injured area with moistened moss, then cover it with a transparent film.

After a while, roots should break through the moss. Then the winding is removed, the stem is cut off from the mother flower, planted in a light and loose mixture, watered.

Sheet

Reproduction by leaves consists of the following stages:

  • several adult leaves are selected on the stem, cut them off together with the axillary bud using a blade;
  • dipped in Kornevin's solution for 2-3 minutes;
  • planted in a mixture of peat and coarse sand, watered;
  • for rapid root germination, cover with foil, put in a warm place with diffused light.

The leaves are ventilated every day, irrigated with warm water as needed. As soon as they start to grow, they remove the shelter, continue to look after. Seating in separate pots is carried out after the appearance of the stem.

Diseases and pests

Throughout the entire period of growth and development, hoyu vayeti can be damaged by various infections and harmful insects. The main reason is violation of the rules of care and maintenance.

Diseases and pestsSymptomsTreatment methodsPreventive measures
Spider mite, mealybug, scale insect, aphidThese parasites feed on the sap of leaves, buds, young shoots. In places of their parasitism, yellow, brown or black spots appear. Infected organs shrink, wither, dry out and crumbleWith a slight infection, you can do without chemistry - treat the crown with soapy foam, spray it with infusion based on orange peels, tobacco or garlic. Launched specimens are irrigated with Aktellik, Fitoverm, Decis, Karbofos or AktaraSpray once a month with soapy water, maintain the required level of humidity and temperature, when buying, inspect flowers for pests
Root rotDamages the flower, which is often poured over with cold water. Rotting begins from the root, then spreads to the stems - they turn black, become covered with a whitish coating, become watery and softSuch a plant is taken out of the pot, washed from the soil, and the root is examined. If it is completely rotted, it is disposed of, after cutting off several cuttings for further cultivation. Hoya, whose root system is partially damaged, can be saved - all rotten parts are cut out to healthy tissue, dipped for 2 hours in a fungicide solution, dried, planted in a new flowerpot with a sterile substrateAvoid waterlogging, use warm water for irrigation
