Characteristics of the variety

The best breeders in Germany worked on the creation of the Gemini category f1. The company that filed a patent for this variety in 2004 is considered to be Bayer Nunhems. In 2005, Gemini pepper was entered into the State Register of Russia.

This species is suitable for growing both in the greenhouse and in the open field. It can be planted in any part of the country, regardless of climatic conditions.

The Gemini f1 hybrid is an early sweet pepper variety. The first fruits ripen as early as 80 days after planting the seedlings in a permanent place.

Description of the bush

According to the description, the height of the bush is 60 cm. The leaves have a rich green tint and are covered with small wrinkles. Most of the foliage is positioned in such a way as to protect the fruit from the sun.

The stem is powerful, the root system is well developed, it is for this reason that the bush does not deform when large fruits begin to ripen.

Fruit type

Gemini pepper f1 has the following fruit characteristics:

  • cubic shape;
  • rich yellow, sometimes flowing into orange color;
  • when grown outdoors, the weight of the fruit is 250 g; if cultivation takes place in a greenhouse, the weight of an individual fruit reaches 350 g;
  • the diameter of the pepper is 6 cm, and the wall thickness is 0.7 cm;
  • high yield: From 1 sq. m collect about 10 kg of fruit.

The fruit has excellent taste, even if the fruit is harvested at the time of technical maturity. When fully ripe, the fruit has a sweet taste with a slight bitterness. This does not prevent it from being versatile in use. Sweet bell peppers are suitable for fresh consumption, canning or salads.

Growing a species

The Gemini pepper variety requires compliance with the rules for growing and planting. It is important to follow all of them in order to achieve maximum yield. It is important to know not only the planting principle itself, but also the requirements that are put forward for planting material. The amount of the harvest and the taste characteristics depend on the seeds.

Soil preparation

Prepare the soil before planting the seeds. To improve germination rates, it is better to use light soil. It should also be characterized by excellent drainage so that moisture does not linger in the root system and does not lead to the formation of rot.

The soil should be composed of humus, ordinary earth and sand in a ratio of 2: 1: 1. All ingredients are thoroughly mixed and poured into prepared containers. Seeds are planted in containers at the beginning of March, they germinate best at a temperature of 25 ° C.

Planting in a container

It is not required to treat the seeds with disinfecting and growth-accelerating substances: the supplier company carries out these procedures in advance. First, a small amount of water is poured into the container and only then the seeds are planted.

Planting depth should not exceed 2 cm, otherwise seedlings are formed late. The containers are placed in a lighted room and await the first shoots.

Seedlings are hardened by opening the windows in the room for several hours every day. After 20 days, she is taken out into the street and taught to the sun and wind.

Landing

Picking and planting of seedlings in a permanent place is carried out only at the age of 40 days. The seedlings should have 2 pairs of leaves. Planting seedlings should be carried out only after the soil warms up to a temperature of 15 ° C. Unheated soil leads to deformation of the root system. When planting, you need to adhere to a certain pattern: keep the distance between the holes at 60 cm, and between the rows at 80 cm.

Care requirements

According to the description, Gemini sweet peppers require regular loosening of the soil, high-quality watering, top dressing and mulching.

Mulching

Mulch is necessary so that moisture remains in the root system longer and the roots do not suffer from changes in ambient temperature. For its implementation, straw and humus are used. All sections of the inter-row space are filled with this mixture.

Top dressing

Top dressing is carried out three times during the entire ripening period. The first feeding is carried out a week after planting the seedlings. The second - after the beginning of the formation of ovaries, and the third - during fruiting. Top dressing should include compounds of potassium and phosphorus. It is better to refuse nitrogen, because it leads to excessive growth of the bush. As a result, most of the nutrients are spent on growth rather than on fruit formation. Fertilizers should not contain chlorine: it will lead to deformation of the bush and fruits.

Bush formation

Do not forget about the formation of the bush: it should form into 1 stem. To do this, remove all side shoots. This is done so that the fruits form evenly. It is very important to tie the plant to the support so that the bush does not break from the weight of large peppers.

Watering

Watering is carried out only with warm water, preferably in the morning. This is necessary so that moisture remains in the soil, and does not evaporate from the sun's rays. Watering frequency is 1 time per 4 days.

Parasites and diseases

According to the description, this variety of peppers has high rates of the immune system, so it is not affected by either viral or fungal diseases. This characteristic of the variety has a good effect on the final yield, because no extraneous factors interfere with the development of the plant.

Disease and parasite prevention cannot be neglected. Solutions for prevention are easy to prepare yourself at home. Solutions of manganese, wood ash or tobacco dust are often used for these purposes. The bushes are sprayed as a preventive measure once every 2 weeks.

Conclusion

If you follow all the specified rules for planting, growing and caring for the crop, you can achieve excellent yield indicators. As a result, you can really get large fruits of high quality and excellent taste.
