Planting cucumbers according to Yulia Minaeva
Yulia Minaeva has been planting cucumbers for a long time. Every year, the author of many innovative ways to grow vegetables offers more simple and effective ways to get seedlings of vegetables. The technique justifies itself in many regions, and gardeners who follow the author's recommendations save time, effort and money.
Seed preparation according to the Minyaeva method
Yulia Minaeva suggests preparing seeds before planting in several ways.
The most popular of all is the Japanese technique. This method involves germinating seeds in rotted sawdust, and not in water or soil.
The process is as follows:
- A shallow plastic container is filled with sawdust. The layer thickness should not exceed 2 cm.
- The substrate is poured with hot water and left to cool. Such an operation will help the sawdust absorb the maximum amount of moisture.
- With tweezers, grab a cucumber seed on the sides, and then gently squeeze.
- The chopped grains are planted in sawdust: they are laid out in a square nesting way over the surface at a distance of 2 cm from each other.
- Sprinkle with dry sawdust.
- Cover the container with polyethylene, and then put the tray in a well-lit place.
- After 48 hours, the first shoots will appear on the surface of the sawdust. Then the cellophane will need to be removed.
Unusual ways to grow cucumbers
Blogger and author of rational agriculture, Yulia Minyaeva, managed to develop and then introduce many unusual ways of growing seedlings.
Also in them, the author of video lessons for novice gardeners teaches not time-consuming and costly caring for plants in various conditions.
The most unusual ways that will replace the usual method of growing in glasses or boxes is sowing:
- Seedling into snails and diapers.
- In a seedless way in bags.
Snails replace a large number of pots. The seedlings feel very comfortable in such conditions. The harvest of cucumbers grown in seedlings in an unusual material is distinguished by the strength of the root system. That is why, when transplanting, seedlings easily take root and quickly enter the fruiting phase.
Planting cucumbers in bags will save usable area on the plots, and also enable the gardener to organize the most suitable conditions for the cucumbers: lighting, protection from winds and the right neighborhood. This method will be appreciated by those summer residents whose planting requires fertilization.
Soil for growing cucumbers can be used not only purchased. The land harvested in the fall will also do. Only it should be enriched with minerals and have a neutral, and preferably slightly acidic environment.
In snails
In order to reduce the area for growing cucumber seedlings, Yulia Minaeva recommends using snails. These makeshift beds are easy to make with 2mm laminate backing. This building material does not allow moisture to pass through and has high thermal insulation properties.
Making a snail is easy. For this you will need:
- Cut a 15 cm wide strip of backing.
- Remove the seeds from the bag, sprinkle them on a plate, and then sort.
- Pour a handful of earth on each strip and smooth it slightly with your hands.
- Moisten the soil with a spray bottle.
- Spread 5 seeds at a distance of 3 cm from each other and 1.5 cm from the top edge of the "economical" row.
- Roll the edge of the backing into a roll.
- Add another handful of earth, level and moisten with water.
- Place the seed, slightly sinking it into the ground with your finger.
The whole process of forming a bed consists in pulling up the substrate, filling it with soil and folding it. At the moment when the improvised bed is completely ready, you should secure it with an elastic band, and then put it in a container of a suitable height: a plastic container, a bowl or a bucket. To retain moisture and maintain the desired temperature, the snails should be covered with cellophane.
Instead of soil, you can also use toilet paper, only the seedlings will have to be planted in the ground as soon as they give the first leaf. Otherwise, they will die from lack of nutrients.
In diapers
Growing cucumbers in diapers is no more difficult than growing snails. This technique has a number of differences and advantages. Plants do not need replanting and have more free space.
Diapers made from scrap material will act as pots. This will save money and space, but will not affect the quality of the seedlings.
For the manufacture of "diapers", conventional cellophane food bags are required. Their size should be medium: 18 by 27 cm. Before planting, Yulia Minaeva recommends placing cucumber seeds in water. So it will be most convenient to take them with a spoon.
The manufacturing technique is as follows:
- the package is spread on the table.
- a handful of dry fertile soil is placed on the edge.
- level the ground with their hands.
They retreat 1 cm from the edge from the side and top, and then put a cucumber seed on this place. You need to take it along with a small amount of water.
Roll up the diaper and place it vertically in a container with high sides or a plastic vegetable box.
So we fill in the required number of convolutions. After that, the diapers should be sprayed from a spray bottle, and then the container with the blanks will need to be tightened with cling film. From the moment of planting to the appearance of the first plants, no more than 72 hours will pass.
As soon as the first leaves appear above the ground in any of the improvised pots, the film should be removed and the ground should be sprayed again. For irrigation, you need to use only warm settled or rainwater.
In bags
Cucumbers grown in bags according to the method of Yulia Minyaeva will give a greater yield than plants grown in traditional and even warm beds.
The root system of cucumbers cultivated using this technique will be developed. The plant will be able to receive the maximum amount of nutrients, since the seedling will be in the most favorable conditions for it.
Bagging is easy. To do this, follow the algorithm below:
- Fill bags (made of dense cellophane or from under bulk products) by a third of earth with humus.
- Pour the soil with warm water.
- Tie the bag and leave it for a day.
- We plant 6 seeds in a circle in a heated ground, germinated in water, on paper or in sawdust.
- Sprinkle them with earth and lightly tamp the soil with your hands.
- Tie the bag again and leave it for 48 hours.
After this time, cucumber sprouts will appear on the surface of the earth. From this point on, the bags should be kept open. After 2 weeks, you need to build arches over the bags or pull the trellis, because the bushes will already throw out the first "mustache", and the plants will look for support.
Conclusion
Yulia Minyaeva helps gardeners to make their work easier. Using her cucumber growing techniques, you can get excellent quality vegetables.Plants grown using this technique have a developed root system and high immunity.
