Open field cucumber varieties
Cucumbers are characterized by fresh taste and aroma, and also contain a lot of vitamins. Anyone who plans to grow this vegetable should pay attention to the most common and productive varieties of cucumbers for open ground.
Seed selection
For planting in black soil, it is necessary to choose cucumber seeds for open ground, because the yield and the plant's predisposition to diseases depend on this. A special place is occupied by hybrid species, since they are maximally adapted to unstable conditions.
When choosing seeds, attention is paid to a number of factors:
- fruiting period;
- sizes of vegetables;
- the intensity of the branching of the bush;
- the importance of special care;
- stability.
If you adhere to the listed rules, it will not be difficult to grow a quality plant.
Before choosing and buying seeds, you should pay attention to the climate. For Ukraine, the Moscow region, Siberia and the northern strip of Russia, different seeds are required. Growing late varieties in areas with cold weather means depriving yourself of the fruiting culture.
By the method of withdrawal
Hybrid
Most often, hybrids marked F1 are chosen for planting in open ground. These are the best varieties of cucumbers for outdoor use, as they are resistant to any environmental conditions.
- Admiral F1. The variety is pollinated with the help of bees, it is cold-resistant and heat-resistant, therefore it is suitable for the south and for Siberia. Admiral F1 can be grown for an early rich harvest.
- Bedrette F1. An unpretentious and hardy variety that can grow even in adverse conditions.
- Emelya F1. One of the best pickled cucumbers, and therefore the purpose of growing is pickling. The fruits are small and have an excellent taste. Emelya F1 does not require frequent and abundant watering.

Non-hybrid
There are a number of non-hybrid, high-yielding varieties that are recommended for outdoor planting. It:
- Aquarius;
- Elegant;
- Siberian janitor.
By the way of pollination
The varieties of cucumbers that are planted in open ground are divided into 2 groups: those that are pollinated independently and those that reproduce with the help of bees.
Self-pollinated varieties
They can be called super-resistant, they grow in the most unfavorable conditions and at the same time give good yields. They reproduce on their own. Each cucumber flower has both a stamen (male organ) and a pistil (female organ), due to which it is able to pollinate itself.
Gardeners are increasingly giving preference to this particular group of plants, if we are not talking about growing under heifer conditions. There are 2 reasons for this:
- taste characteristics and appearance;
- early fruiting.
Since the variety has both female and male flower types, it lacks the ability to create seeds.

It is permissible to plant such varieties of cucumbers only in open ground, because only under such conditions access is retained for the penetration of all types of pollinating insects.
