Description of the mushroom

This mushroom is also called veselushka, immodest phallus, smelly or gouty morel. The body of a young mushroom looks extraordinary, it resembles an egg, its diameter reaches 7 cm. Outwardly, it looks like a raincoat mushroom, but with a softer texture. The common veselka mushroom has a smooth beige shell.

The diameter of the leg, or more precisely, the recipe, is 3-4 cm, and the height is 13-20 cm. The hat has an oblong shape with small holes, it is covered with dark mucus. A feature of a mature veselka mushroom is a pungent rotten smell.

Irina Selyutina (Biologist):

At the beginning of its development, the young fruit body of Veselka vulgaris is in the soil, resembles an egg of a white, grayish or yellowish hue and is located on a white mycelial weight. Its average diameter is about 6 cm. The shell of the "egg" is represented by the following layers:

  1. External, or exoperidium: membranous.
  2. Internal, or endoperidium: gelatinous.

Under the shell, the asexual part of the fruiting body is formed - the receptacle (it is also called the "leg") in the form of a hollow cylindrical column with spongy (cavernous) walls. At its top, a spore-bearing, darker in color part, a gleb, is formed, and then separates. It is often called the "hat". The recipe can stretch in length as it matures up to 30 cm. At the same time, its growth rate averages 5 mm per minute. As it grows, the recipe raises a black-greenish honeycomb gleb in the form of a cone-shaped cap with a small disc at the top. Soon, the gleb spreads into black-green mucus with basidiospores. This mass drips down to the ground, emitting an unpleasant odor that attracts flies.

The general development of the fungus lasts 2 months, the formation of fruiting bodies takes only a few hours.

Veselka ordinary belongs to soil saprophytes-gasteromycetes.
