Features of the grape variety Nastya
Many grape varieties are grown not only in the southern regions, but also in central Russia. One of these varieties is the Nastya grape, which has another name - Arcadia Rose.
Variety characteristic
The Nastya grape is a hybrid that was obtained by crossing the disease-resistant variety Moldova and the high-yielding species Cardinal. It is known as early maturing because the active growing season until full maturity lasts 115-125 days.
Description of the bush
Nastya grapes are characterized by tall or medium vigor, depending on the growing conditions. The bush has large, widely spaced branches. The root system is strong and adaptive, which allows the plant to survive in frosts down to -21 ° C-23 ° C, and also helps in finding moisture during dry periods.
The flowering of the vine does not require the presence of a pollinator: peduncles of both male and female types. The leaves of the bushes are medium in size, wide, cut along the edges with teeth.
Description of fruits
The yield of Nastya grapes is high, up to 20 kg from one bush.
According to the description, the brushes are cylindrical and conical in shape. The looseness is average, compensated by the size of the berries. The average weight of each hand ranges from 0.5 to 0.9 kg.
The grapes are white with a greenish or yellowish tinge. The shape of the fruit resembles an elongated heart-shaped oval. There is a whitish waxy coating on the surface. The skin is thin, but unusually strong, which makes it possible to transport grapes over long distances without the use of special substances. The length of the berry reaches 3.5 cm, the width is 2.5 cm. One berry weighs from 7 to 15 g.
The taste is high. According to the description, the grapes are sweet, with a nutmeg aftertaste and aroma. The acidity level reaches 5-7 g / l, the amount of sugar in fruits is up to 15-17%.
Growing grapes
The key to a successful planting of a bush and obtaining after rich harvests is the correct approach when choosing a place and preparing it for grapes.
The Nastya variety is warm and sun-loving, but does not tolerate drafts well. They try to plant it on the south side, in a place protected from winds all year round: next to the walls of buildings, houses. Some people prefer to grow vines in greenhouses, where they are provided with protection from unnecessary drafts.
Before planting, determine the acidity of the soil. Its level should not exceed pH 5-7 units. The occurrence of groundwater in an ideal variant is 2.5 m and below. At a higher level, the drainage system is strengthened.
Planting seedlings includes the following stages:
- Dig a hole 0.7 m deep and the same width. The holes for grapes in the soil are placed at a distance of 1-1.5 m. It is advisable not to mix the row with other varieties.
- The depressions are fertilized by mixing a small amount of humus, peat or compost with a portion of the soil. Such fertilizer is poured onto the bottom of the pit with a layer of 15-20 cm, and the top is covered with a small layer of soil. This precautionary measure protects the roots of a young plant from burns with strong organic substances.
- A day before direct planting, the roots of the vine are dipped in a nutrient solution. The addition of a growth stimulant to the water helps the plant gain strength and protects against certain diseases. Before planting, the roots are cut off a little.
- The seedling is covered with soil to the level of the root collar so as not to damage it. After each seedling is watered with 2-3 liters of settled water. Supports are immediately installed for the vine, because it grows quickly and requires support for the branches. From above, the hole is mulched so that the moisture necessary for good growth and development is retained for a long time.
Plant care
For the normal development of the root system, loosening of the earth is carried out at the base of the bush. This promotes the flow of air to the roots and better saturation of the plant with nutrients. After this procedure, the loosened area is sprinkled with sawdust. It is a good weed control.
Watering and fertilizing are also important for the proper development of the vine. Often these procedures are carried out in combination. The first watering after planting is done in 10-15 days, the second - during the formation of the ovary, then - as needed. The Arcadia Pink variety is famous for not requiring a lot of moisture. It is better to water the bush with settled water heated in the sun.
The grapes are fed at the same time as watering. Depending on the period of development of the bush, phosphate, nitrogen, potassium fertilizers are added. They help to form fruits, saturate them with useful substances and high levels of sugars, protect the plant from pests and diseases, and prepare it for the cold season.
The vine is protected from overloads by pruning. It is carried out in the spring, before the beginning of the active growing season. The emphasis is placed on the formation of a fan shape with a base of 3-4 sleeves. Pruning is carried out for 8-12 eyes. After the formation of the ovary, it is better to leave one bunch on each large shoot.
Diseases and pests
The hybrid variety Arcadia Rose (Anastasia) is immune to mildew.
Twice a year, in spring and autumn, prophylactic spraying with Bordeaux mixture is carried out.
According to the description, grapes do not tolerate sudden changes in moisture and dryness. In greenhouse cultivation, it is even more susceptible to disease and infection. The main opponents of the vine are:
- Oidium. The disease is capable of destroying the entire bush, therefore, the tactic of preventive spraying in spring and autumn with a 3-5% solution of copper sulfate is used.
- Gray rot. It appears as a result of the pathogenic development of fungal diseases. To prevent infection, the bushes are treated with sulfur-based products every 14-20 days, starting in the spring.
Complex remedies are used against pests of grapes of the Nastya variety about 3-4 times a season. The main principle is the correct spraying timing. The procedure is carried out in the evening or early in the morning, on days with minimal solar activity, so that chemicals do not burn the leaves and damage the fruits.
Conclusion
Nastya grapes are rightfully considered one of the most successful hybrids. He is picky and easy to breed. Its advantages are high yield, ability to transport and store, good taste.
