Characteristics of the variety

Pepper D'Artanyan is a sweet early-ripening variety: from the moment the first sprouts appear until the fruits ripen, 100 days pass. The variety is capable of producing a good harvest of peppers even when grown with insufficient lighting and temperature fluctuations. It is grown in all regions of the Russian Federation, except for the northern ones.

Description of the bush

According to the description, the bushes are medium-sized. In the open field, peppers grow up to 80-90 cm, in a greenhouse the culture reaches 1 m in height.

To prevent breakage, the bushes are tied to a support and shaped.

The plant is high-yielding, 7-8 kg of peppers are usually harvested from a small area, in greenhouses the number of fruits is about 2 times higher. Fruit ripening occurs simultaneously.

Description of the fetus

Prism-shaped peppers, large, thick-walled, bright red. Each fruit weighs from 150 to 200 g, but peppers weighing more than 200 g are often found. The fruit is sweet, aromatic.

Pepper can be transported long distances as it has a long shelf life.

Preparing for landing

Before planting, seeds are checked for germination. Seeds are dipped into a glass of cold water, then salt is poured and mixed well. For planting, those specimens are suitable that after 2-3 minutes turned out to be at the bottom of the glass.

They take small pots, pour soil inside each. Next, the containers are placed in a warm place so that the earth in them heats up.

Planting seeds

The planting material is placed in water, then wrapped in wet material and placed in a warm place. After 2-3 days, check whether sprouts have appeared. Next, seeds are planted in the ground, thoroughly watering and covering the container with a film, which is removed when shoots appear.

It is imperative to take care of young plants. They should be watered with warm water at room temperature. To increase the growth of plants, the bushes are illuminated using artificial lighting.

The grown pepper is hardened. The procedure is carried out gradually. First, the pots with seedlings are taken out on the veranda or balcony for a few minutes, gradually the time spent outdoors is increased. You should carefully monitor the weather: the plant is thermophilic, therefore it can die due to frost or a slight decrease in temperature.

Transplanting seedlings

The hardened seedlings are transplanted into a specially prepared area for this. Bushes take root well on light soils. Planting peppers is carried out after:

  • cucumbers;
  • Luke;
  • pumpkins;
  • cabbage;
  • green manure plants.

Growing D'Artanyan should not be carried out in areas where peppers, potatoes or tomatoes were previously grown. If the area of the site is small, the area is dug up, while applying a large amount of fertilizer.

Before planting the peppers, furrows are made where the seedlings are planted.The distance between the bushes should be 40 cm. A plant is placed in the hole, carefully spreading the root system, covered with earth, while the root part should remain on the surface. After that, the bushes must be thoroughly watered with warm water.

D'Artagnan pepper care

Caring for the planting of a variety includes several points:

  • Watering is carried out after 2-3 days; in dry summer, the plants are watered every day.
  • They carry out loosening of the earth around the peppers, removing weeds. To reduce the risk of weed spread, the area near the bushes is mulched.
  • Fertilizers are applied in a timely manner. For the first time, the plants are fed after the appearance of 3 leaves. The next time, feeding is carried out when transplanting to a permanent place. Fertilizers are applied 3 times after the start of fruit formation.
  • Bushes are treated for various diseases. During the ripening period of the crop, chemical preparations should not be used, since poisons tend to accumulate inside the peppers.

The grown peppers are harvested from the end of July: this helps to reduce the load on the bush. The remaining fruits are poured and grow before the onset of frost, after which the bushes are removed from the site and the territory is dug up.
