It is difficult to imagine a dacha without cucumbers. They are rolled up in jars for the winter, used as a cosmetic product, and included in the diet menu. In order for the crop to be reborn, it is important to maintain the distance between the cucumbers in the greenhouse when planting.

Planting scheme for cucumbers in a greenhouse

Greenhouse conditions allow you to grow cucumbers during the cold season. However, the greenhouse planting method has a number of difficulties associated with the location of the bushes, limited varieties and financial costs.

Growing in greenhouse beds is carried out according to schemes that differ from those usual for planting in open ground. The correct spacing allows the bushes to get the right amount of water and fertilizer for a good harvest, while the thickening of the crop will lead to the death of the plants.

Planting cucumbers in a greenhouse depends on the variety. On the package with grains, the optimal time and planting scheme for a particular species are printed.

The location of the beds depends on the size of the greenhouse. With a width of 2-2.5 m, the bushes are placed in one row on the sides of the greenhouse, leaving a path in the center. If you make greenhouses with a width of more than 3 m, 2 paths must be laid in the center. On the sides there are one row of bushes, in the center - 2-3 beds.

You can plant cucumbers in two ways: horizontal and vertical. Using the first method, line the cucumbers on the ground. With the vertical method, a special frame is made, which is tied with a rope to the trellises. The plant will cling to this support as it grows.

When planting cucumbers, the distance between the bushes varies from 20 to 70 cm. The cultivation method determines how far to plant cucumbers in the greenhouse.

Planting seedlings vertically

Disembarkation stages:

  1. In pre-prepared beds, holes are made, which are filled with water slightly warmer than room temperature.
  2. A seedling is carefully planted in the resulting grooves to avoid damage to the roots.
  3. The optimum length between bushes is 25 cm, row spacing is 45 cm, between rows 2 and 3 - 85 cm.
  4. Cucumbers are planted in the holes along with the soil on the roots.
  5. The level of the indentation is the same as in the container.
  6. After planting, water is poured under the root, the temperature of which is more than 24 ° C.
  7. After watering, a rope is pulled from the root to the top of the greenhouse so that the cucumbers grow up. It is considered effective to create systems of rope plexus, wire or any available means for supports.

The scheme for planting in this case is 8 bushes per 1 m². This method is used when there is a limited amount of greenhouse space. Also, the vertical growing method makes it easier to care for the bushes.

The downside of vertical beds is the drying out of the soil. Cucumbers are a moisture-loving crop, so when using this method, plants are watered more often.

Planting seedlings using the horizontal method

Planting stages:

  1. The plants are planted on the 27-30th day after the first seed shoots.
  2. Depressions are made in advance.
  3. Planted carefully to avoid damage.
  4. If space permits, the plant is planted in a checkerboard pattern, then the distance between the bushes will be 60 cm.
  5. If space does not allow, a distance of 25 cm is left between the bushes, and 60 cm between the rows.
  6. To let the plant horizontally, a rope is laid along the bed, onto which the plant is hooked for its further growth.

This method allows the bushes to get the maximum amount of nutrients and moisture from the soil. However, horizontal beds take up a lot of space, which is the reason for a decrease in yield.

Seed method of growing cucumbers

Planting cucumbers with seeds is considered to be an easier way to grow a crop compared to the seedling method. The only difference is that the seeds are planted directly into the soil. The disadvantage of this method is poor germination. Before planting, the seeds are calcined and treated with nutrient mixtures.

Sowing order:

  1. Determine the landing method - vertical or horizontal.
  2. Wells are prepared.
  3. Several seeds are poured into each.
  4. A hole is made for the seeds - about 5 cm. The size of one hole should be such that each seed is at a distance of 4-5 cm from each other.
  5. Sprinkle with a layer of earth.

Re-watering is not required. The soil remains loosened, the seeds receive the same amount of moisture and air.

For horizontal cultivation, sprouted cucumbers do not need to be tied up, they will grow on the ground. However, a rope fence is used to separate the cucumber beds from other crops. The planting scheme for this type of cultivation is a checkerboard pattern.

As for the vertical method, the seeds are deepened by 5-7 cm. After the emergence of shoots, the bushes are thinned out so that a distance of 35 cm remains between them. Next, a trellis is installed, along which the cucumbers will grow. When installing the frame, organic materials are used: wood and ropes. Iron nets can injure bushes.

Conclusion

A good harvest depends on the correct growth of the bush. The scheme for planting cucumbers in a greenhouse depends on many factors. The spacing between shrubs can vary due to the cultivar, the size of the beds and the growing method. When planting, you need to correctly calculate the number of bushes in one area in order to avoid thickening of the culture.
