Description of the plant

Growing features
The cultivation of the Podarok variety cabbage is carried out by the seedling method. In early March, seeds are planted to obtain seedlings. They are disinfected in advance with a manganese solution (about 2 mg of the drug per 2 liters of water). Soaking the seeds lasts 20-30 minutes, after which they are thoroughly washed under cold running water. When planting seeds in containers, the scheme is 6 x 6 cm.The planting depth is 2 cm.
After 40 days, the first shoots appear. At this moment, seedlings are planted in open ground. The ideal time for a transplant is mid-May.
Before planting in open ground, the seedlings are hardened. To do this, every day for a week they are taken out into the street for 3-4 hours. Due to this, their resistance to temperature changes increases.

Disease and pest control
This variety of white cabbage is resistant to many diseases: powdery mildew and Alternaria. Problems in this species can only arise with pests.
- If the bushes are affected by a butterfly, they are sprayed with an Epin solution (10 ml per 2 liters of water).
- The fight against caterpillars consists in the use of tobacco powder: 20 mg of tobacco is diluted in 5 liters of water. The recommended volume is about 1.5 liters.
- You can get rid of cabbage with cayenne pepper: 1 tbsp. l. powder is sprayed on 1 sq. m plot. It is better to do this not in windy weather, so that the pepper does not blow off the bushes.
