Characteristics of Manoko Chinese cabbage
Due to its positive qualities, Peking cabbage Manoko F1 has been in demand in the agricultural market for a long time. This is an early maturing hybrid for cultivation throughout the sowing season. The seed producer is the Dutch company Bejo Zaden (Netherlands).
Characteristic
The Manoko hybrid has a short growing season - 45-48 days from the moment the first shoots appear. The yield is 60 t / ha. Peking cabbage is resistant to shooting and flowering, which lead to a decrease in the quality of the vegetable crop, is resistant to fusarium and brown leaves. Thanks to its strong root structure, cabbage can tolerate heat-resistant summer days very well. During the storage period, it does not lose its presentation and weight, it tolerates transportation well, has a high content of nutrients.
Description
Cabbage leaves are wide, oval, medium in size and green in color. The leaf vein is white, flat, wide, dense at the base. The leaf rosette is vertical, loose. Fruits are medium, weighing 800-1500 g. The presentation of the fruit is attractive.
Description of the head of cabbage:
- the shape is cylindrical, elongated;
- average density;
- color is light green with a light green tint;
- the color on the cut is light yellow;
- the inner stump is short.
Application
Manoko is a dietary vegetable for making vitamin salads. It is low-calorie: 100 g of the product contains no more than 14 kcal. Contains a lot of useful microelements: potassium, calcium, sodium, magnesium, iron, iodine and zinc. Recommended for use with hypertension and hypotension (stabilizes blood pressure); depression and nervous disorders; arthritis, rheumatism.
Care
When growing varieties Manoko F1, seedling and non-seedling sowing methods are used. The hybrid is resistant to cold, the seeds are able to germinate at low temperatures (4 ° C), but for good and rapid development, the optimal temperature should be 15-20 ° C, therefore, for the first spring cultivation, seeds are sown for seedlings.
Sowing and seed treatment
Sowing work is carried out 2 times per season: in spring and summer. First sowing - April 1-10; transplanting seedlings into the ground - the first decade of May. The second - from June 20 to July 1; disembarkation - from mid-July.
Before sowing, the seeds are treated: they are immersed in hot water (50 ° C) for 20 minutes, you can use a thermos, and then move them into cold water for 5 minutes.
Loose soil for seedlings is chosen, for this they use peat, sod land and humus. The hybrid does not recover well after picking, so the seeds are planted in a separate container. Peat tablets, pots and cassettes are great.
Lighting
Containers with seeds should be stored in a dark, warm place until germination. After the first shoots appear, the seedlings are provided with regular lighting for 10-14 hours. For this, phytolamps are used.
Temperature and watering
The first 2 weeks after germination, the air temperature should not exceed 7-8 ° C. After this period, the temperature is increased to 15-18 ° C. Water for irrigation is used at room temperature. Water as needed, do not allow the soil to dry out or waterlogged. In the spring, a week before planting, the seedlings are hardened: they are taken out into the fresh air, every day increasing the time spent outside.
Transfer
The soil for seedlings should be fertile, moderately moist (ideal moisture content - 70%). Good predecessors are pumpkin seeds, legumes and cereals, onions, garlic, green manure. It is not recommended to grow after beets, tomatoes and all cruciferous, cabbage relatives, since they have common diseases. The transplant takes place according to the scheme 60 x 40 cm.
Watering after planting
For Manoko cabbage, regular abundant watering is required every 5 days, early in the morning or in the evening, after sunset. The water should be kept warm. When watering, it is undesirable to allow water to get on the leaves, they are poured only under the roots. To keep moisture for a longer time, the garden bed is mulched. In this case, it will not be necessary to loosen the soil and remove the weeds so often.
Fertilizer
Cabbage planted in the spring is fertilized 3 times during the entire vegetative period. For the second landing in the summer, 2 times are enough. For root feeding, solutions of mullein, chicken droppings or fertilizers based on N, P, K (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) are used. During the ripening of the heads of cabbage, the plants are sprayed with a solution of water (10 l) and boric acid (2 g). All feeding is carried out in the evening.
Diseases and pests
Manoko is immune to fusarium wilt.
Some of the most dangerous insects for Chinese cabbage are:
- cruciferous flea, black, wavy;
- cabbage moth, fly, bug;
- winter scoop, garden;
- white woman;
- centipede;
- wireworm;
- bear;
- aphid.
In the fight against pests, insecticides are used for arachnid species of insects - insectoacaricides. The processing is carried out several times.
Diseases affecting cruciferous plants: vascular bacteriosis, tracheomycosis, mosaic, phomosis (dry rot), white rot, downy mildew. For fungal diseases, the following solutions are used: "Topaz", "Quadrisom", "Skorum", etc. Vegetable crops with viral diseases cannot be treated - they are removed (burned).
Conclusion
The type of Chinese cabbage Manoko F1 has a short ripening period, is unpretentious in maintenance, and has a high yield. It is a dietary and healthy product, suitable for cultivation for the purpose of implementation and home use.
