What means do they wash their hands after cleaning mushrooms
The harvested harvest of mushrooms requires mandatory cleaning from dirt, leaves or spruce needles - in general, from various forest debris. This process is often difficult. Nails and fingers darken, washing your hands after mushrooms is not easy if you do not know some tricks.
The reason for the darkening of the hands
Not all fungi cause darkening of the hands and nails. White is sometimes called "neat", because it always remains white, even when dry, and cleaning it does not take long and does not cause darkening of the hands.
Blackening of the hands comes from the following types of mushrooms:
- aspen mushrooms;
- boletus;
- boletus.
The skin of the oiler is rather rough and contains carcinogens, so it is removed, completely cleaning the surface of the cap. The boletus has a lot of iron in the leg, so the cut darkens quickly (the usual oxidation reaction is taking place). The water used to wash the crop intensifies the reaction and the fingers turn black.
Cleaning methods
It is very important to wash your hands well, because harmful bacteria and microorganisms can enter the prepared food with dirt. Each mushroom picker uses his own proven recipe for mushroom contamination.
After oil
Butterlets are delicious edible mushrooms that are found in almost all regions of Russia. It is better to collect them in deciduous forests. Butterlets like to hide under fallen leaves near tree trunks.
This type is suitable for salting, frying and boiling. But before cooking, they should be well peeled and peeled (completely, not in parts) from the cap. The difficulty of this process is that it is quite difficult to wash your hands and nails after it.
To wipe off all contamination, you should immediately wash your hands with soap-free water. Blackness on the palms and fingers is a kind of pigmentation associated with the presence of iron in the skin and which will penetrate even more into the skin by reacting with soap.
The following are suitable as cleaning agents:
- acids: acetic, citric, oxalic acid;
- currant berries;
- plum fruits (acidic is better, because they contain organic acids);
- tomatoes;
- apples (sour varieties);
- fresh lemon.
To wash your hands from mushrooms with vinegar, it must be diluted in water, in a ratio of 1:10. This solution will not irritate the skin. They hold their hands in it for 5 minutes and then add a pinch of baking soda. Hands are immersed in the solution again and the dirty areas are rubbed with a sponge or an old toothbrush. At the end, they are rinsed with running water from the tap. Attention! You cannot use undiluted vinegar for these purposes. It will cause burns to the skin.
Before using citric acid, a sachet of the product is diluted in 25 ml of warm water. They hold brushes in it for 3-5 minutes and rub them, washing away all the dirt. Then rinsed under the tap.
To get oxalic acid, you need to grind ordinary table sorrel in a meat grinder or chop finely with a knife. A mask is made from this green mass on the hands and kept for 15 minutes, wearing disposable medical gloves on top. Then everything is washed off and rewashed with soap and brushes and fingers under the tap.
It is easier to wash dirty areas of mushrooms immediately after cleaning them. In a short time, the pigment will not penetrate the skin as much, so the treatment will be easier.
A slice of lemon, mashed plum or currant can help deal with contamination if there is no citric acid, vinegar or sorrel nearby.
If time is lost, you will have to scrub the stains with a pumice stone or stiff brushes. This must be done carefully so as not to severely injure the surface of the skin. After treatment, it is necessary to soften the skin with any nourishing cream.
After other types of mushrooms
Vinegar and sorrel do not always help from dirt caused by cleaning boletus or boletus boletus. Therefore, it is best to use a regular nail polish remover or dehydrator.
To treat stains, the agent is applied to a tampon or cotton swab, rubbed the stain with it (actively, but without fanaticism) and then wash everything with soap under running water.
Some non-oil stains can be washed off with ordinary soapy water, scrub or dishwashing liquid.
After the treatment is finished, a moisturizer or nourishing cream is applied to the brushes and nail plates to restore the pH (acidity) level of the skin and relieve irritation from chemicals.
Irina Selyutina (Biologist):
You can clean your hands from contamination caused by various types of forest mushrooms in other ways:
- Soda: from baking soda and water, prepare a mass that resembles gruel or thick sour cream and apply to the contaminated areas of the skin. Leave it on for 2-3 minutes and then wash off. Please note! It is necessary to use this method carefully and be sure to carry out caring procedures after it.
- Sea salt and lemon juice bath: 1 liter of hot water, 7 tbsp. sea salt, juice of 1 lemon. Keep hands immersed for 15-20 minutes. Wipe the remaining dirt with a lemon wedge or a cotton pad dipped in lemon juice.
- Handwash: a washboard will help increase the effect of its action. Detergent powder and laundry soap are also quite suitable for the "bath".
- Auto Paste: fungal pollution is, in principle, equal in strength to pollution from engine oil. However, when using such specific products, you must strictly adhere to the instructions and indications on the packaging of the product.
It is impossible to use all the above methods of removing contamination from fungi in turn: if one remedy did not help you, you should hardly count on the "bombing" effect from another. Just wait a few days, do all the usual work - the skin will return to its natural color by itself.
Whitening nails
After working with forest mushrooms, the nails are greatly affected. Therefore, you can use recipes for whitening your nails.
A fresh tomato is made into a gruel and fingers are kept in it for 10-15 minutes.
The following ingredients are also used:
- 1 tsp 3% hydrogen peroxide;
- 0.5 tsp olive (other vegetable) oil;
- 1 protein.
Beat the protein until foamy. The remaining components are poured in and mixed thoroughly. The tool is applied to the nails and hands, gloves are put on top. Hold for 15-20 minutes, then remove the gloves. If the nails are not cleaned, then they are immersed in the remaining solution for another 10 minutes. Then everything is washed off with water. The skin of the hands and nails will become light.
A cleansing procedure with lemon helps well. To do this, cut the lemon in half and immerse your fingers in the halves. Nails are kept in lemon for 15-20 minutes, and then rinsed under water.
Protects the skin from pollution
It is easier to wear rubber or latex gloves before starting work. As a result, you do not need to waste time trying to get rid of the ugly age spots that make you hide your hands from others.
But gloves are not always there, and their use is not always convenient. Hands often sweat when wearing rubber gloves, and cotton gloves do not 100% protect against dirt.
If you rub vegetable oil into your skin before going into the forest, this will partially protect you from corrosive pigments.
Irina Selyutina (Biologist):
Lubricating your hands with vegetable oil will help you, but you have to wait 20 minutes before going out for it to be absorbed, otherwise it will be difficult to collect - everything slips, and if you lubricate before processing, even more so, because the knife will be difficult to hold in your hands. To prevent the coloring pigment from spoiling not only the epidermis, but also the nail plate, scratch a regular piece of toilet soap with your nails.
Wet wipes will help cleanse the contaminated areas of the skin immediately after the mushroom is cut and the milky juice and mucus from the oiler cap has come into contact with the skin.
Conclusion
Before picking mushrooms, hands are processed and take protective gloves with them. Then walking and cleaning mushrooms will not cause problems.
