And the reason lies in the fact that every year the harm from diseases such as phomosis, anthracnose, rhizoctonia, dry rot becomes more and more noticeable for humans. What is the disinfectant for?
The quality of the seed material decreases significantly during the growth of the plant and storage of its fruits.
This often happens because the technologies for applying herbicides and harvesting were violated, and because the chemical protection was carried out with poor-quality compounds.
That is why the treatment of potatoes with a dressing agent becomes a prerequisite for the process of growing fruit.
Why disinfect root crops
In practice, it has long been proven that potatoes, processed before being placed for storage, are not affected by diseases, and, therefore, retain their seed qualities.
Stored tubers are at risk of decay due to unfavorable factors. In addition, their germination usually also decreases.
A scab disease is dangerous, which may not be immediately noticeable. However, under its influence, the eyes are affected, which greatly affects the yield.
As you know, 6-8 sprouts grow on one healthy tuber, which give up to 20 tubers. If there are few sprouts, accordingly, the amount of potatoes will be small.

In the past years, before planting potatoes, potato growers used such means as "Kruiser" and "Maxim" for comprehensive protection against all kinds of diseases.
This mixture guaranteed good preservation of the seeds. However, the fact that two drugs were used often limited the spread of this treatment method.
Today, potatoes are increasingly treated with the Celestop treater.
In one preparation, two actions are combined: fungicidal and insecticidal. At the same time, 3 highly effective substances were included in the complex composition at once, which were able to provide comprehensive protection of the planting material and its seedlings from insect pests and all kinds of diseases.
Composition of the preparation
The combined mixture "Celest Top" contains 3 active substances: difenoconazole, thiamethoxam, fludioxonil.
It is used not only to protect against spoilage of seed tubers, but also to protect winter / spring wheat.
Let us consider the action of the components of the treating agent in more detail:
- Thiamethoxam. The component belongs to insecticides that strongly stimulate the germination and growth of the plant. After planting the crop, the agent is transferred to moist soil, it is absorbed into the plant, accumulating in its tops. At the same time, some of the substance remains in the soil, protecting the tubers from soil pests.An important feature of the component is the fact that thiamethoxam is concentrated in the tops of the plant, while it is not found in young tubers. Due to the ability to dissolve well in plant sap, the component is stably retained in the tops, even in dry weather. If available, the plant is guaranteed to be protected from the Colorado potato beetle for 100 days.
- Difenoconazole. The component is a fungicide that destroys seed and soil infections. As a result, the roots and seedlings of the plant are protected.
- Fludioxonil. This component has shown itself well in the popular drug "Maxim". The substance is characterized by a fungicidal effect. Being on the surface, the component does not penetrate deeply into the tubers. At the same time, it works as an antibiotic, destroying pathogenic infections on the seed. Therefore, various spores and fungal hyphae die directly on the seed tubers, without having time to penetrate the tops.

The most important feature of the composition is the triple effect:
- Protection of seedlings from damage by rhizoctonia and silvery dew is guaranteed.
- The plant is protected from infections during the growing season.
- Protection of plant tops from insects is guaranteed: Colorado potato beetle, wireworm and aphids.
Thus, seed material treated with an insectofungicidal agent receives favorable conditions for growth and development. This ensures a good harvest.
Scientific research
The positive effect of the complex was confirmed in the process of scientific research of the drug.
Thus, studies at the All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology showed that the protection of planting material in the proportion of 0.4 l / t increased the germination of potatoes by 12.5% in comparison with untreated tubers. In comparison with the classical treatment, the innovative composition increased the germination rate by 1.1%.
A study of the drug for protection against silver scab showed that the new generation of disinfectant was 8.5% more effective than its predecessors.
A study of a complex preparation for yield obtained the following results:
- the yield of unprocessed raw materials amounted to approximately 262 kg / ha;
- the yield from the seed treated with the novelty amounted to 325 c / ha;
- the yield from seeds treated with classical means yielded 310 c / ha.
Also, a thorough study of the product was carried out at the Belarusian Institute of Plant Protection. Scientists have proven that it easily handles wireworms at a dosage of 0.4 l / t. The observations showed that untreated seed potatoes were damaged by wireworm by 21%.
While with the new composition the damage to the fruits was only 9.7%, an amazing result was obtained by testing the new dressing for resistance to damage to the tops of the Colorado potato beetle and aphids - 100% effectiveness of the drug was confirmed.
The cost
Often, when buying a new generation of treaters, buyers are dissatisfied with the high price of the drug. However, they forget that its dosage is only 0.3-0.4 liters per ton of potatoes.
For comparison, we can recall the drug "Prestige", the consumption of which is 0.8 liters per ton. If we analyze the consumed ratio of drugs, it becomes clear that they are similar in price.
Instructions for use
In the instructions for use, it is recommended to use an agent for irrigation of seed potato tubers before planting: for 1 ton of 0.4 liters of dressing agent.
The period of protective action of the drug against insects after one treatment is from 40 to 60 days.
At the same time, protection from scab and rhizoctonia will be observed throughout the entire growing season. The activity of the composition begins to manifest itself several hours after application to the seed tubers.
