Zucchini varieties Anchor
Pumpkin crops are healthy food for both humans and animals. A popular variety is the Yakor zucchini, bred by the All-Russian Research Institute of Breeding and Seed Production in 1987. It has positive characteristics that are valuable for summer residents.
Characteristics of the variety
White-fruited zucchini Anchor belongs to the early maturing varieties. It is actively grown in 6 out of 12 regions of Russia, as well as in Ukraine and Moldova. The popularity of the vegetable is due to its unpretentiousness. It easily tolerates drought, prolonged rains and frosts.
Description of the variety:
- The bush is medium-sized, rarely grows to the sides. Shortened internodes allow it to be used to redirect forces to growing crops. Has a small number of leaves.
- The description of the zucchini indicates that its fruits are characterized by an irregular cylindrical shape, slightly tapering towards the base. Covered with a light green skin during technical maturity. Then the color turns light yellow. The skin is fragile, thin, smooth, has no meshes or abundant hairiness. The pulp is light yellow, dense, tender, in the middle it is divided into 3 loose placenta with seeds.
- The productivity of the Yakor variety is high, therefore it is often used in production. Full maturation occurs in 35-49 days. Zucchini fruits reach 15-50 cm in length, weigh from 500 g to 2.5 kg. From 1 m² it will be possible to collect 7-12 kg of zucchini per season. They are subject to transportation and long-term storage.
The negative qualities of the plant include its susceptibility to white and gray rot, powdery mildew. The pleasant taste of young fruits attracts wild rodents and birds.
Growing zucchini
Varietal white-fruited pumpkin seeds are unpretentious. The variety requires care, thanks to which it will be possible to get a large harvest. It will be possible to grow a zucchini on the territory of a summer cottage or a backyard plot.
Getting seedlings from seeds
Planting material is harvested in the fall, when the last fruits ripen. Then it is dried and stored all winter. To select seeds suitable for breeding, they are soaked in brine for several days. Small and half-empty zucchini seeds. Remove the anchor.
The swollen seeds are ready to be planted in the ground. Zucchini prefers neutral and slightly alkaline light soils. The soil should consist of peat mash and garden soil, and chalk or slaked lime should be added to it. Each seed is dipped into a moistened hole to a depth of 5-7 cm.
The distance between plants should be such that they do not interfere with each other's development.
Requirements for growing seedlings:
- sowing takes place in early or mid-May;
- in the first week after the emergence of sprouts, the air temperature should be equal to 18 ° C for the root system to develop;
- the next days the temperature should reach 23-25 ° С;
- daylight hours - at least 11 hours a day;
- needs regular watering, the ground should always be slightly damp;
- planting of young plants in the ground takes place at the time when the first 4 leaves appear (about 30 days after sowing).
Landing in open ground
Zucchini Anchor prefers sunny places, sheltered from the wind. It is planted in late May - early June, when the air temperature stabilizes. If the seeds are sown in open ground, the ground is protected with a film until the third leaf appears.
Seedlings are covered only at night until the temperature stops dropping below 11 ° C.
Before planting zucchini, you need to prepare the soil:
- good predecessors are legumes, potatoes and cabbage, nightshades;
- in the fall, a layer of fallen leaves with a thickness of at least 10 cm is placed on the ridge, ground with neutral Ph is leveled on them;
- in the spring, holes are dug, which are filled up to half with fresh compost;
- the beds should be 60 cm apart.
2-3 seeds of a white-fruited variety are dipped into the hole, covered with earth, and watered abundantly. Mulch on top to keep moisture in the ground. There should not be more than 18-20 plants on an area of 1 m².
Zucchini care
When leaves begin to appear on the bushes, they need to thin out, remove weak shoots. So in a short time they achieve an increase in yield. Zucchini of the Yakor variety bear fruit at a temperature of 11-30 ° C. It is required to moisten the soil regularly, especially during the flowering period, ovary, in a drought, but the development of fungus and rot should not be allowed. After that, it is necessary to carry out loosening of the soil and hilling.
Description of feeding zucchini:
- application of nitrogen fertilizers for leaf growth: manure, ash, urea, superphosphate;
- phosphorus compounds improve seed production and fruit formation, therefore they create a special mixture consisting of 300 g of ground frozen fish and 10 liters of water;
- potassium is responsible for the condition of the plant and the presence of nitrophosk, potassium nitrate in it;
- boron helps to form the ovary and enhances immunity.
Fertilizers are applied three times: after rooting, before flowering and ripening of fruits.
Some components are added at the root, the rest are sprayed onto the leaves. Zucchini needs care, which is produced only during the hours of weak solar activity - in the early morning or evening.
Harvesting and storage
To get a good harvest, the variety is harvested every 2-3 days. During this time, new ovaries appear, which quickly develop and increase in size. With careful care, the plant bears fruit for 3 months.
Ripe zucchini turns yellow. The skin of the zucchini coarsens and becomes denser. The description indicates that such fruits grow to a large size.
Zucchini is harvested between July and September.
To give the last zucchini the opportunity to ripen and not start to rot, pine needles or non-woven material are placed under them. For storage in the house, a dark, cool place is allocated in which the fruits can lie from 1 to 4 months.
Conclusion
Zucchini Anchor hit the taste of many gardeners. They are actively used for preparing fresh dishes, seaming for the winter. Customers are attracted by the good taste and size. Planting and caring for a plant does not require a lot of money and time. The vegetable grows in conditions of changeable weather in most regions of the country, therefore it is popular among the population.
