Description of the spikelet

The spikelet is not an independent species. It is not listed in any encyclopedia. Spikelets can be boletus, boletus, oiler, boletus (white birch mushroom). It is not the name that is important here, but the period when they grow.

Irina Selyutina (Biologist):

The appearance of the first summer mushrooms - "spikelets" may occur earlier than June, or may not occur at all. Everything is determined by Mother Nature: if it is warm and humid, mushrooms can be expected, and if it is cool at the beginning of summer, they will take a "wait and see attitude." Our people are sharp-witted and perceptive. And for the growth time of the first summer mushrooms, it has its own signs:

  • The rye has begun to grow, it's time to collect the spikelet mushrooms.
  • The wild rose has bloomed, the spikelets have gone.
  • The viburnum blossomed, the spikelets went.
  • Found the first strawberry, look for the ears.
  • The first berries of wild strawberries turn red - in a light birch forest you can look for strong white spike mushrooms.
  • Rye is sprinkling - it's time to collect spikelet mushrooms, etc.

By the way. Spikelets are called not only edible, but also other (conditionally edible, inedible and even poisonous mushrooms) mushrooms.

During the summer season, when the flowering of various varieties of cereal plants begins, the white spikelet mushroom also appears.

These mushrooms are pleasant to collect: they are rarely wormy, they appear in waves at different periods.

There are early (spring), summer mushrooms and deciduous:

  • Snowdrop mushrooms: these are the first spring species - morels and stitches. Their appearance coincides with the period of bud swelling in trees. This wave is short and ends in 7-10 days.
  • Spikelet mushrooms: in June, they grow in about the same way, in a wave lasting no more than 10 days. At the same time, rye begins to spike.
  • Stubble mushrooms: the last wave is the longest, it begins at the end of summer and ends only with frost.

Beneficial features

Useful microelements in the composition of mushrooms support the normal functioning of the body. They contain a lot of enzymes, vitamins, mineral salts. Younger representatives are more useful, therefore they are more valuable.

White birch mushroom contains a large amount of proteins - 40%. Dried mushroom surpasses even meat and eggs in the amount of this component. At the same time, it is a low-calorie product. At the same time, boletus contains few B vitamins (thiamine (B1) and riboflavin (B2)) in comparison with some other species.

There is an opinion that boletus is healthier than white. It has 3.46 mg per 100 g dry matter of thiamine, or vitamin B1, and 4.77 mg of riboflavin. The white mushroom has 0.49 mg of the first and 2.44 mg of the second substance. However, it is more appreciated due to its excellent taste.

In terms of iron content, boletus is not in the first place: it has only 1.0-1.4 mg per 100 g, and the chanterelle has about 6 mg.

The boletus has high indicators in terms of the content of trace elements such as copper and zinc, here only the red-brown talker can compete with it.

Contraindications

The product is contraindicated in case of individual intolerance (allergic manifestations).

Also, it is not recommended for people with diseases of the digestive and cardiovascular systems. It is not advised to use the mushroom for kidney and liver problems or those who suffer from gout.

It is undesirable to use the product for elderly people: they poorly absorb protein foods.

Application

There are many useful substances in mushrooms

There are many useful substances in mushrooms

Mushrooms have a set of useful compounds, they are used in medicine and cosmetology. Extracts, powders and tinctures are made from mushrooms.

Milk mushroom is very popular in cosmetology. On its basis, masks are made to improve the complexion. Nutritionists advise to eat a product to fight obesity: it is low in calories, but at the same time rich in useful microelements.

In cooking

According to the description, spikelet mushrooms are delicious, nutritious and healthy. Unlike white russula, russula are bitter, they must be soaked and processed differently.

Chanterelles, which absorb less radionuclides, are safer, they almost never break, which gives them some advantage over other species. Some of the microelements are lost, so they cannot be processed for a long time during cooking.

In medicine

On the basis of representatives of spikelets, tinctures and other medicines can be prepared. They are widespread in both official and traditional medicine.

Due to the ability to absorb toxins, mushrooms are used to treat oncology, they are a good natural antibiotic. The famous penicillin was obtained from a fungus called penicillus.

Most species have a positive effect on the human body, normalize metabolism, affect the nervous system, and improve the functioning of the cardiovascular system.

Growing methods

Mushrooms are grown in the country or even at home. The main thing is to create the necessary conditions for them. Such a business is popular and profitable.

The cultivation of the following mushrooms is especially popular:

  • Champignon;
  • oyster mushrooms;
  • honey agarics;
  • shiitake.

Even a beginner can cope with their breeding, from whom, first of all, a suitable room is required.

Some problems can arise with other mushrooms. As for everyone's beloved white, it is unprofitable to grow it on an industrial scale: it is closely related to the root system of trees due to selective mycorrhiza, it needs a too unique natural environment.

Conclusion

Spikelets have excellent quality and excellent taste. There is no scientific observation of how and when spikelet mushrooms appear. There is only folk knowledge about the periods of the mushroom season.
